First, it's absolutely insane that IVF is a topic in the US presidential campaign, just insane.
On Harris, yeah she's got the reaction faces. That's courtroom experience, it's a classic way to influence a jury when you're not allowed to verbally intervene. (Obviously she's doing more here than she could do in a courtroom.)
I really loved that "go to his rallies, people get bored and leave" move, it's kind of brilliant, because it's extremely self-fulfilling. If people who don't normally watch his rallies try to watch or go to Trump rallies, yeah they're likely to leave or quit midway through. Just in general, if you get people to question whether they are bored during something that lasts as long as Trump speech, they are much more likely to tune out and be bored.
However, I didn't think Harris came off that well either. Like many Democrats, she's just so... politician. She should take some notes from Walz on how to talk about politics like a normal person.
Also, US presidential debates are horrible, no wonder so many in the US hate both parties. These are some of the most watched events, and they're really politics at it's worst.

This is a link to an episode of Adam Conovers (originally made famous by Adam Ruins Everything from CollegeHumor) podcast Factually. The episode is called "Are Progressives Finally Making Progress", which I think is good listening to those who want to understand the relationship between the left and leftist podcasts, and the Democratic party. They cover quite a bit of ground on different topics, but I think the biggest takeaway are that the left just fundamentally do not see the Democrats as "us" or even "our representatives" the way liberals feel. To the left, the Democrats are more like a frenemy, a lot of the times they only share an enemy, but very few goals.
I also think in the podcast they accurately recognize that at this point in time, the Democrats are kind of an empty vessel, a "fandom" and an organization focused on winning elections, but lacking a coherent ideology or vision... and because of that lack of vision, some on the left/progressive side see that they have an opening to enter that space with their own ideas and actually get some lf them pushed through.
There's also interesting views on Biden and Harris, just a good episode overall I think
(For the record I don't personally fully agree with this analysis, even if think there's a lot of truth in it.)
Pretty big swing in RCP betting odds after last night... September 8, Trump was 4.5 points up; this morning Harris is 4.9 up.

I don't look at Swift giving her support as different than any other industry leader. She's an industry leader. Created a billion dollars with a guitar and cuteness. She's a 30 year old human with an opinion on an important issue and a huge platform. If I was her I'd use it too.
Also good for her for telling her management to stick it, who I'm sure were (again) looking to get her to shut up and make music, not alienate rural fanbases, and she's probably just like "I'm the biggest music act ever, I think it'll be okay."

I'm sure it helps Taylor came out publicly, but did anyone actually think she might be a Trump supporter?
Trump did.
That's the thing about all his misrepresentation of facts. He really does actually believe them. He believes migrants are eating pets, no question. Etc.
In retrospect, I think Harris started a bit nervously and got stronger and stronger as the night wore on. If there was actually any question about whether she was 'presidential', there is none now.
I think she will make a great president.

It was a perfect response by her. She didn't send the swifties out to vote for Harris. She cleared up the AI 'misinformation' and told her following to make up their own mind. It was perfectly played, including the face slap at JD
