We are really only short relative to the US. Most of Europe is sub 1 month.

yeah, I'd say it's 4-6 weeks over here. We have legislative elections coming up at the end of September, and campaigning has picked up some speed this past couple of weeks.

I saw some of it. It wasn't a train wreck, but pretty uninspired. Harris' answers sounded like broad approaches to goals/government but didn't really amount to policy IMO. Amd it was a tame interview, felt like it had training wheels on it.

If votes Pres. she will have to do much better or get eaten alive.

Not a hard-hitting interview, but it's not like anyone actually follows up with real questions when Trump does 1 on 1s either.

Swan is the only interviewer in the last 10 years that challenged Trump on anything, and he's been persona-non-grata since.

IMO, calling the interview "tame", "boring", or "uninspiring" is a huge win for Harris in particular and bringing the temperature down politically.

Politics needs to be boring. The general public can go live their lives rather than obsess over politics. The excitement can be generated at the rallies in various towns. This is important to ensure people don't get complacent.

It's a win for her, cos she didn't come off as senile or make any gaffs. There wasn't any fodder for the opposition to latch on to. Her emphasis about how she always governed according to her values was great. It showed consistency. As opposed to Trump, who repeats what he heard last. Does he think the six week abortion is too short? His campaign already trying to walk that back.

I thought she was quite good in that interview. Much better than any of the insane trainwreck interviews that Trump has given. Walz was good too.

Most of the criticism I've seen has been aimed at CNN for not asking useful questions and instead trying to generate tabloidesque sound bites.

I haven't read the whole thread because...well...obvious reasons.

But...if Trump successfully overturns the 2020 Election results would he then not have technically held his 2 terms of office and thus be ineligible for another?

Problem solved.

This seems like a win/win.

Texas gonna Texas.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/latino-vot...y?id=113191353

Quote:
A prominent Latino voting organization is calling on the Justice Department to investigate a series of raids held across Texas last week as part an ongoing election fraud investigation led by the state's controversial attorney general, Ken Paxton.

The raids targeted prominent Democrats and election volunteers -- including some in their late 80s -- according to a spokesperson for the League of United Latin American Citizens, or LULAC, at a press conference on Monday.

Investigators allegedly confiscated cell phones, computers, and other records, according to LULAC officials.

Quote:
Among those targeted in the raids was Lydia Martinez, an 80-year-old retired teacher who lives in San Antonio, who "was removed from her home in her night gown and made to wait outside in full view of her neighbors and the general public, causing great humiliation and discomfort," said LULAC president Roman Palomares at the Monday press conference.

"Lydia's devices, personal calendar, and voter registration materials were confiscated, and she was coerced into providing her passwords under the threat of delayed return of her property," LULAC said in its letter to the Justice Department.

Speaking to ABC News on Tuesday, LULAC CEO Juan Proaño called the raids "baseless."

"There's no merit to it at all. There's no evidence that was actually provided, even to the judge when they received these warrants. They're baseless," Proaño said of the allegations. "We know for a fact, certainly as it relates to our members, that there is nothing at all to substantiate any voter harvesting, any voter fraud at all."

Abbott is a fascist just like Trump. No surprise there, although that maybe is just my bias from where I live, because Arizona knows nothing about Fascist wannabes. :-)

Saw the interview, and I'm not going to compare it with Trump interviews because I don't see a point to that and I'm judging her interviews on their own. I didn't like her non-answers and dodging of a few questions such as why she changed her views on fracking and a couple more that I'm forgetting now. Dana Bash would even go back and re-ask the question after Harris goes off about other things in her answer. It's obvious that she's decided to just ignore Trump's insults and not even acknowledge them, which I think is a smart move. Letting him go off and look like a child without hitting back is a smart move as it feels like you can't win that back and forth with him. That interview still has me concerned about how she'll be in the debate. I'm starting to wonder if she simply let's her nerves get to her in live interviews without a script, which prevents her from putting together really strong answers which I've seen her be very capable of prior to becoming VP. I'm still not convinced that she'll answer questions in the debate without going around in circles without answering the question. If Trump catches on to that and says something like, "I don't think anybody knows what she just said, but since she dodged the question, I'll answer it directly", it'll look bad.

Credit to Bash for asking Walz directly the questions around why he lied about the "going to battle" thing and him and his wife getting IVF, when it was apparently not that they got. I wasn't aware of those things, but Walz answered them both clearly and direct, without dodging.

I agree that Harris’ best answer - politically - was her response to Trump’s racial comments. Trump would love for the whole campaign to be the Harris campaign responding to whatever idiocy he’s just said. That’s a win for him.

Answering whatever he says and does with something like “He always says that kind of thing, next,” is exactly the right move.

I travelled for work to rural PA. I got to hotel at 8PM and asked the desk person where a good place to get a drink was.

Got this perplexed look, “Son this is Quaker country, ain’t no where to get a drink round here after dark”

My only other run in with Quakers was at the grocery store cereal isle. I honestly didn’t know they still existed, but rural PA is full of that type of folk.

And to be fair to Pennsylvania most states are likely that. Once you get outside the metro areas you are looking at anywhere from 60-90% support for Trump. Even deep blue states like Oregon and Washington are basically deep red outside Portland, Seattle and the college towns.

I have a friend in Erie, Pennsylvania. They’re near the border so would consider coming to Canada if Trump pulls off an unlikely win.

"Unlikely win" lol. At worst he's a slight dog right now, but realistically applying the Murica tax he's a slight favorite.

Trump’s the favourite? Kamala wins fairly handily.

We should have a CP pool. I’d be willing to set it up.
