I don't think any PTO make sense for the Flames. If you want Kilngberg to pump and dump just give him a cheap one year deal. Otherwise you take time away from your players to showcase a guy to sign elsewhere.
I think the injuries have done him in, so I'd avoid him.

I was thinking about a potential pump and dump, but the injuries are a big question mark, which is why I wouldn't mind seeing him in camp first.
As far as play time in camp, I think we have about 8-9 games, which would be more than enough to give the D competing for spots 3-5 games each.

Agreed, I would second, PTO's would not be useful in any manner
In terms of Klingberg, he had surgery that ended his season. Can he even return? Or will he retire....

Klingberg has to be the cautionary tale to young players who get offered a big, guaranteed contract. Take the money while it's being offered - don't dick around thinking you can find/earn another 10%.
Didn't he decline a 7yr/$42m extension from the Stars? He's made $11.150m in the 2yrs since, and is PTO-fodder today.

That was one of the biggest contract missteps I've ever seen.

Sometimes flubs are in your teams best interest. Flames have done that with a few folks that said no, luckily.

The only PTO I'd have any interest in is Zadina, and that's only if multiple incumbents get hurt.

Swayman asking for $10mil/year.

Now, we might be getting an idea of why there’s still some real work to do in these negotiations. During Monday’s debut of WEEI’s new midday show, Jones & Keefe, host Rich Keefe provided a scoop regarding what Swayman is asking for.
“Jeremy Swayman, looking for $10 million a year,” Keefe said. “That is the scoop that I have. He is looking for $10 million a year. That would put him with Sergei Bobrovsky and Carey Price [at the top of the goalie market].”

Sure, but reasonably high lol. This just knocks $2M off his ask right away and creates a divide IMO.

There was a rumour that last year, arbitration didn't go super well with Swayman. He apparently wanted to sign a reasonable long term deal at the time, but the Bruins preferred a bridge and took him to arbitration. I think they will regret that decision.

Why did they trade Ullmark before locking down Swayman?

$10M is probably a good starting point TBH.
Top 5 Salary Cap Hit
Price: $10.5M
Bobrovsky: $10M
Vasilevskiy: $9.5M
Hellebuyck: $8.5M
Sorokin: $8.25M
Top 5 Save Percentage Last 2 Seasons
Ullmark: .927
Hellebuyck: .921
Swayman: .918
Sorokin: .916
Shesterkin: .914
Based on his last two seasons his ask is going to be "Pay me like a top 5 goalie". Average of those top 5 highest paid goalies is $9.35M and his end goal is probably to land around $9.0M ... so $10M isn't a bad starting point. Shesterkin is probably also looking for a deal between $9 and $10 on his next contract after this season.
Boston for sure probably arguing to give him less than the Sorokin / Hellebuyck type of deal though which is in that $8M range.

In the end it probably doesn't impact Swayman negotiations a whole lot, and they wanted to keep the 25 year old instead of the 31 year old.
The real question is if you believe Korpisalo (who was a salary dump) and a late 1st round pick was enough to move Ullmark. And I'd argue it wasn't.
