We’re going from Pierre Poutine to Boris Borscht.

Canadian economy expected to have decent growth (2.2%) next quarter.

Lead by natural resources & manufacturing.

Shocker!

Economy grows in the 2nd quarter. Here's why that spells disaster for Justin Trudeau, Liberals, and progressives at large.

Conservatives turning red like a looney tunes character when they realize part of the increase is directly attributed to the pipeline expansion bought and paid for by the Trudeau Liberals.

Investigations of foreign social media activities have concluded their purpose is to sow distrust, conflict, and chaos in democracies, not support any particular political party or movement.

You don't think they look at supporting politicians that may further their interests? That seems kind of naive to me.

They might try to drive a narrative about a foreign policy issue like Ukraine. But when it comes to domestic politics, their goal is to undermine trust in the democratic institutions, values, and norms, and foster us vs them group conflict. They try to whip up extremism and resentment across the political spectrum.

I kinda agree with Cliff on this one. The primary goal is create instability, and from that they can plant the seeds towards a political advantage.

If we can become more media and technologically literate this shouldn't be an issue. That's a giant if, though.

Isn't it fair to say that some politicians and political movements are better fits for this and that as a result the Russian disinformation machine would be more likely to push those candidates? For instance, candidate A supports democracy and democratic principles while candidate B employs populism and dog-whistles. Which do you think Moscow would try to support more?

It says right in the article Cliff linked that they use it to “gain strategic influence in the U.S. decisionmaking process by developing access to policymaking circles and influential groups and increasing control over U.S. public opinion. These targets are assets that might knowingly or unknowingly help Russia gain long-term political influence through Russia's making relatively low-profile investments today” and “Russia has also sought to support and establish relations with social movements in the United States and Europe that tend to operate outside the traditional political party structure, such as secessionist movements in California and Texas.”

So I’m not sure why we’re suddenly pretending they don’t. Maybe Cliff should have read the article.

Didn't they amplify a lot of the Brexit trash, not just for chaos, but because a divided Europe with the UK on the outside is a huge advantage for Russia? Sure chaos is great, but I have my strong doubts they don't look at events like that and elections as an opportunity to push the best outcomes for themselves. Seems like checkers level stuff. Like, why wouldn't they?

So this person is a Democrat loving Poilievre loving Australian that cheers for Germany at the Olympics and hates Stan Bowman.

And the question that we ask ourselves each day, how North Dakota's wheat crop is helping us with global food security. All within a week of each other.

The only reason the Kirkland tweets were picked up out of the usually social media noise is how some folks from the left are so rabidly obsessed with anything to do with Poilievre that they have notifications for whenever Poilievre is mentioned. Fooled a poster here as we can see where robocalls were inferred. Now Conservative are on the defense mode denying this has anything to do with them. This is how disruption works.

I really think some of these are more social experiments to see how stupid and gullible people can get.

Only a fraction of Canadians are obsessed with Trudeau or Poilievre. Can’t we make fun of all of them?

Do we need to re-hash why this is a totally disingenuous way of framing the Trans Mountain pipeline?
