Rural NC and VA are all about Trump.
I do know at least a few people who were very hippie-liberal. They were extremely liberal on social issues, and were all about natural foods. But thought COVID vaccines and restrictions were the biggest affront to their lives and reluctantly somehow moved over to Trump.
I can see them finding a home with RFK, and I can certainly see a few of those type living in Asheville.

Some conservatives believe that using a tampon means you're not a virgin anymore (and are therefore tainted and worthless to your future husband in the eyes of evangelicals) or that using a tampon somehow promotes teenage promiscuity for ?reasons?.
They're also the biggest proponents of the terrible and failed policy of "abstinence only" sex education, so they never properly learn how menstruation works. Many conservative men genuinely believe that women can just "hold it in" (like urine) and therefore it's not necessary for schools to provide feminine hygiene products to students.
They'll never admit it, but these people share far more common beliefs with the Taliban than they do with mainstream Americans.

Trumps view on abortion is fair. He's against a national ban on abortion and wants the citizens in each state to vote on it.
Peoples opinion on abortion differ in various states and this seems like the only logical solution.

Either way, what about statements like that make you think he'd continue to allow that to happen (even though it actually/obviously isn't).
100% guarantee it goes something like this:
Trump: Today I'm enacting a nation wide abortion ban
Everyone: But I thought you said it should be left to the states, and that you would never do this
Trump: What they're doing in California is horrible, we need to put a stop to it
Everyone: But that's not actually true about California
Trump: Well a lot of people are saying it is, so that's something someone should look at....
