I saw some people filling parkades. That’s totally fine. Great idea.

The underpass and now gas station thing? Probably the one time we should see what Locke would come up with and actually implement it.

Sounds like a good secondary duty for Jeremy Clarkson's 'Station police marksman on every overpass' plan

I just don't understand why CPS doesn't post up officers at those spots and hand out tickets. It'd be the one time that an openly cynical attempt to raise revenue that way meets with overwhelming public approval. Everyone knows the storm is coming hours in advance; just... send some cars to where you know people will stop.

The problem is when storms are that bad, the police are busy

But I agree, send CoC Peace Officers or something

Posting up officers is just going to add more cars and mayhem. Put a CPS camera and record license plates then send everyone who stops a ticket in the mail.

And then run multiple news stories about the cameras and tickets. People will learn fast.

And get out of their cars? Not bloody likely.

Two south lanes blocked off on 9th heading into downtown this morning. A whole lot of pylons and one single truck parked.

As we passed that site where the new transformer station, there was 30+ workers standing around. I had my window open and gave a WTF gesture to one rotund fella. He fataing laughed as if to say "we know we didn't need to do this but fata you". It was kind of funny.

Ya we decided to wait until rush hour AM to do this, whatever it is.

The downtown construction and its impediments to the ability to drive down there have just been absolutely ridiculous since Covid ended.

I'm thinking a CPS 'Environmental Emergency' Monster Truck.

Just drive to every overpass and SMASH!!

It could have lights on it and everything!

Plus it would make for great news coverage.

I'm super cool for having a reason, but its when there is none. Workers went home and didn't bother to move the pylons over.

I loathe to be a conspiracy guy but I swear this is purposeful, 'induce demand' by artificially making driving uncomfortable with dumb crap.

They're just much better at hiding it now. Same with baseball, there's no way a normal ball player will ever reach Bonds-McGuire-Sosa type HR numbers without also taking some sort of enhancements
But do we really think any athlete since Phidippides has been "clean"? It's a relatively even playing field each year. Maybe it's not reasonable to compare Bolt and Jesse Owens just like it is Crosby vs Howe.

The cheapest and most practical "system" I've determined for protecting against hail is basically 1-2 moving blankets left in the trunk of a vehicle. 1-2 should be enough to cover most of a vehicle. Costs around $40-50 total?

When hail is about to happen, drape them over your vehicle. They're thick enough to absorb and dissipate most of the damage and reduce the damage to your vehicle. Typical car covers are just thin plastic no thicker than a bedsheet. I think they're around $10-20 each. I'd recommend the slightly thicker and smoother one. Spend a few bucks extra and buy vacuum bags to compress them smaller if needed.

Moving blankets also work great as outdoor picnic blankets and are a great size. So it's not like it only serves one function. They don't really move around on the vehicle once they get wet. If you need more usage for it, it works as a moving blanket to keep things from scratching when you get large items, and in the winter they work as an emergency blanket or something to let the snow and ice melt on vs directly on the cloth surfaces on a vehicle.

"Won't this potentially scratch my car if there's a stick or something after using it as a picnic blanket?"

You're worried about your vehicle looking like reptile skin. An easily buffable scratch is the least of your concerns. You can easily toss the blankets over the vehicle in less than a minute and in any quick location your vehicle is located (without having to relocate it).

The point also isn't to guarantee that the vehicle is damage free. It's also to reduce the damage so you're not potentially writing off the vehicle or needing to fix thousands (vs hundreds) of dents that would take weeks to do when everyone else is also waiting for that work to be done.

They wouldn't have to. If they're there first on the shoulder, people will be hesitant to stop and if anyone does the officer can flip the lights on and wave them on.

Not sure if it's just me but spam phone calls are off the charts right now. I'm getting at least 4 per day. Just within the last hour I got a call from Longview and Foothills N. 31. What's changed lately that there seems to be so much more of these?

I thought it was the fact I was sending out tons of job applications over the last 5 months and companies are either selling or not protecting information.

Thankfully, they've dropped in quantity over the last week (knock on wood), but there for a while it was about 2 a day.

I have too many vehicles and not enough garages.
