Since I'm in a pedantic mood, technically it's not the passing lane that ends.

Can someone please explain to me what they're doing on that bridge on glenmore trail where the speed limit is 60. I've been driving back and forth past it for past 4 months and I have yet to see a single worker any where in sight.
This city is honestly a joke when it comes to construction zones. Get with the times and make the signs digital and make them changeable when there are no workers present.

But how else will they ticket you and have you supplement their budget monies?

I complained about this before, but the “lane ends” signage in constructions zones along Deerfoot. They’ve moved, but yet… still no lanes actually end ahead.
Also, exiting onto Beddington, the “end construction” sign seems irrelevant. You’re going from 80kph zone to an 80kph zone. What’s the point?

Also the lane that ends when you're on glenmore about to hit the new stoney I believe.
There is a sign that's meant for the right lane that the lanes continue but if you're in the glenmore lane you may think that sign is for you and then the lane just ends 30 meters up the road. Every day I see people panicking trying to get over in time. Why have a sign in the middle where the cars in the lane on the left of the sign will think it's for that lane when it's in fact for the right lane....just plain stupidity.
I think i did a terrible job explaining that but honestly city of calgary sign workers or whoever is in charge of putting signs up do a god awful job of placement of signs.

Speed fines double in construction zones, so they are probably required to post when you leave it.

The lane ends ahead that are scattered throughout the city where no lane ends drives me bonkers. It has to be teens or pranksters putting them back up. There can be no other logical explanation. I have stopped in front of them and moved them to the sidewalk a few times.
Also people parking during no stopping times need parking fines multiplied by 20X. The sign says "no stopping", not "no stopping except for dumb selfish cnuts".
For the ole zipper merge debate, I am pro-zipper merge, but only in theory, if I am in the lane that is being merged into (I'd rather not, but it happens) and I am not being a nazi right up behind the guy in front and a few early mergers scoobie in, I am not allowing a third to do it correctly at the end of the merge.
Zipper is a one-to-one ratio, not a 3-to-one, I already let my two guys in. I am hyperprozipper at that point.

I believe it is because the lane they are referring to is the shoulder, while it is not a lane you drive in it is an area for pulling over or evasive maneuvers that is temporarily closed.

There are different signs for "lane ends" and "shoulder ends".

Speeding fines would change at that point so it's not entirely irrelevant?

Are there? Every time I see the construction sign saying lane ends it's just the jersey barriers moved right up against the left driving lane

Eh, so few drivers understand and utilize the zipper rule that even if you let the third driver in your ratio is still in positive territory.
ETA: allowing these drivers correctly zipper merging will hopefully encourage others to use it.

I saw a guy in a truck with a camper in the bed of his truck towing a boat pass a semi while going around a bend in the highway by crossing over the double yellow into the oncoming passing lane while there were cars approaching.
It might be the craziest ####ing thing I’ve ever seen on the highway. This was on the #1 about halfway between golden and revelstoke. I was far enough back I maybe would have avoided the bloodshed. Thankfully the only cars were in the far lane and a head on catastrophe was avoided.
