It was essentially Debrincat for Korchinski plus a better shot at Bedard.
Chicago also got pick #39 in 2023, plus a 3rd rounder this year.

Ya, I am kinda surprised with all the smoke around that one it hasn't come to fruition yet.

Now that Necas is signed there is more impetus.

If Ryan Leslie posted eyeballs I would be interested. When Salim posts the eyeballs emoji it means he wants to shout out some sandwich shop, something sports media related, something Olympics related... etc.

I don't think it ultimately matters whether you lose on purpose or by accident. To me, as long as the end result is us drafting franchise or generational players, then that's all that matters IMO.

Had enough of this team trying to tow the line between being bad or being not the worst. Just pick a lane and be really good or be really bad already. We've tried the not being worst strategy and it failed, so maybe it's time to try something different.

I mean, heck, how good would the Flames had been if we had drafted Barkov & Reinhart instead of Monahan & Bennett instead? We were right there, just a few picks away. In a different universe, maybe it's the Flames lifting Lord Stanley this year with Reinhart scoring the Cup clinching goal and Barkov shutting down the opposition's top center for us.

Bennett played a prominent role winning a cup.

Maybe we don't even develop Barkov here properly with the coaching mess we have had.

I think we are trying to be really bad, look at the roster. We don't even have a goalie at the moment.

5th best goalie situation in the NHL.

Vladar is a substantial downgrade in net.

We will see what Wolf can do.

I could see us being 5th if we had a cheap veteran goalie like Quick or Varlomov to mentor Wolf.

I’m not overly convinced Vladar will ever be more than a decent backup so having a more stable presence, that was once a starter, would be preferable and could provide a bit of shelter for Wolf.

Vladar doesn’t have much trade value so we may have to see how thinks shake out to start things off.

I think Vladar is out for the season with an injury.

You’d have to think they would sign someone else if so.

Any speculation on what Laine was in players assistance for?

One person's highly subjective opinion based largely on two things. His own personal affinity for Dustin Wolf and the fact that two years out the Flames have $0 committed to the position in terms of guaranteed NHL contracts which gives them a lot of flexibility.

Tell me with a straight face that you think the Flames grouobof wolf, Vladar, and Cooley will be top 5 in goals saved above expected a a big reason why the team finished in the 23 to 27 range in the overall standings or forbid...higher.

Vladar is perfect for the tank. We can keep sending him out to get shelled while trying to protect and develop Wolf.

I don’t think Vladar is good. He’s a decent backup. I can’t see him stealing us many games.

I think the Flames will struggle altogether. The defense will leak….. I don’t think Shesterkin would post nice numbers behind the Flames’ bottom 4 dmen.

I agree. I think both goalies are screwed no matter what they do. They're both doomed to end up with sub-par stats playing behind this team, and sadly- most fans judge goalies purely on their numbers.

The Flames could well have the worst 3-7 defence in the league this year, which is fine given what they have in the prospect pool. But if Bean sees anytime in the top 4 it is a really bad sign for the goalies. Bahl will end up being a decent 4/5 guy I think but not sure if he is top 4 material. I do think they may have a diamond in the rough in Miromanov but the rest of the back end is pretty rough. And those guys will have to play 30 minutes a night.

Team is set up nicely for a top 5 pick this year, which is great for the rebuild. I love the sequencing, getting the backend sorted out first and presumably spending at least 3 of the next 4 first round picks on forwards.
