And by the way, very hard to dole out appropriate punishments in team sports, you end up inevitably hurting innocent people. Lots of Canadian players likely had zero to do with this and didn't benefit. Canadian soccer fans certainly had no idea.

I am all for determining the people responsible and punishing them harshly with suspensions (or fines in the case of pros like the Astros). I feel that is far more of a deterrent than team penalties. Taking away draft picks from the Astros really did nothing to punish the guilty parties. Same with Chayka and the Coyotes. It mainly hurts fans of the team.
don't try to have a serious conversation with this guy...check post history he was constatnly trashing Canada soccer BEFORE this incident

We have officially appealed the points deduction. Good. Imagine it’ll get dropped to 3 pretty easily. Tough to take it at all seriously when Uruguay literally fought fans and Argentina recorded themselves singing racist songs and they’ve had zero punishment and yet this has moved at warp speed

Also it may just be how TSN is loading on my phone but there’s nothing about the win over France yesterday on the soccer home pag, just the drone stuff. Way to support the team folks! Vanessa Gilles interview should be the headline on every news site in this country!

Yeah, it's weird that you have full on video of the players in the crowd fighting the fans and they were all available for the finals against Canada. And nary a word from Mega Ertz...shocking.

Colombia are on the rise and have a genuine star in Linda Caicedo. Canada should be the favourite going in though.

Should be docked another three points for a frivolous appeal. Canada has already been caught and admitted to the crime. Yes, this is a crime, and the "consultant" who was caught and turned over all the evidence of years of wrongdoing may face criminal charges under France's anti-terrorism laws.

The Uruguayans went into the crowd to protect their families, who were under physical attack by the Colombian supporters. Major security failure by CONMEBOL, and that's the reason that there were no sanctions.

Big difference between that and a systemic, well-developed, and CSA sanctioned cheating scheme that has gone on for nine years according to two separate "consultants" who were caught breaking anti-terrorism laws.

Verdict: No suspension

Yes, like last time I forgot my mini Swiss army knife was in my pocket during airport security screening.

Your schtick was mildly amusing during the men's world cup qualifying run (at the time I thought it was Looch City style constant sarcasm), but you've jumped over a shark that was already jumping over several other sharks here.

In the days before their World Cup opener against host China last September, members of the Danish women's soccer team say they faced ongoing harassment that culminated in the discovery of two men attempting to secretly videotape a team meeting at their hotel through a two-way mirror.
Quote:
Eggers Nielsen says the team arrived one day to discover that a meter-wide hole had been dug in the middle of their training field. At another practice the Danes were serenaded by a brass band that made it difficult for the team to communicate. On another occasion the field's sprinklers turned on unexpectedly, halting practice.
Quote:
But those bits of gamesmanship paled in comparison to the New England Patriots-style videotaping of the Danish team's lone closed practice before the China game.

"There was this guy in a building close to the field with a camera," Eggers Nielsen says. "We saw him in the middle of the training. The [Danish] staff told FIFA officials that he was there, and they got him out of the building. Then later we discovered one more. But they never did anything about him."

Yeah, achieving success by way of a major cheating scandal will do that. Ask Houston Astros fans how they feel.
Im sure Astros fans and media are fine with it

It’s typical Canadian media self-loathing and virtually nothing more. There’s literally one person I’ve seen who thinks it’s a big deal and it’s some anon in this thread.

I think these Columbian women need to play a rugby sevens game to learn how to play with honor. Absolutely disgusting. Great goal by Canada.

Columbia did their best impression of the Oilers. How are they going to walk with all those broken shins and ankles from barely getting touched?

I was just looking at the group standings on Google. I had a bit of a chuckle thinking of what it would be like to be on the team that writes whatever system tracks the standings, and getting the ticket for a feature that lets them display total points that don't match the wins/draws. What a stupid situation.

Amazing they persevered. How's Germany look as an opponent?
