It is curious that you don’t see the same people complaining about both outcomes. People only seem to be critical of electoral systems when their team loses.
I voted Labour last week.
I think the system, that produced such a ridiculous majority off a third of the popular vote, is broken.

I just watched a video of "the debate", and it was as bad as I read. I thought people were exaggerating.
It actually made me feel bad for Biden because it's clear he his not aging well at this point. It's also kind of gross that comedians like Jon Stewart are making fun of Biden for it. It makes him look like a dick, TBQH.
If Trump was standing on the stage confused and looking like someone who got lost from a nursing home, I wouldn't think it was funny either.

I think Stewart is doing more than making fun of him. Hi schtick is to talk about serious subjects in a funny way...like a modern comedian. He's been ringing the alarm bell on Biden's declining capacity for months.
Team Biden was all about the truth, and Team Trump the lies. Guess they lost that major high ground. Bravo Dems.
Hahahahaha WHAT

Jon Stewart and everyone else has full rights to make fun of Biden for that performance because he shouldn't have been in that position in the first place. If Biden really cared more about the country than his own image he would have dropped out long ago, but because of his senile hubris he's opened the door for the return of Trump and absolutely deserves to be roasted for it
It’s fine. I’m sure the brain trust behind the Democratic Party has a plan. I keep being told that democracy is on the ballot and that this is the most important election of my lifetime.
Certainly they know best and there’s a path to victory the general public doesn’t see. Imagine if this really was such an important election and they insisted on allowing a senile octogenarian that 50 million people watched sundown live on TV, who is polling worse at this point than any Democrat since Al Gore, and who’s plummeting downward in every poll that exists? My word that would certainly qualify as political malpractice to try and sell that tripe to anyone wouldn’t it? Add in the inevitable downballot destruction this would bring along with it and woof. We spoke a lot about Trump being Putin’s useful idiot, right now ask yourself whose useful idiot Biden is.

Biden in a controlled setting off a teleprompter should be doing well, Christ Trump does well (or at least coherent) on those. But horse is out of the barn, you know? Biden had his chance to not look awful at the debate and he flunked. The ABC interview last week did nothing to help. End of the day Biden can have a rally a day where he looks great and it still won't matter. On the flip side Trump has been giving rambling, incoherent rallies from the start, so it won't matter at all if he has more.

I assume there is polling being done to answer the question if Biden or other is a better candidate amongst both democrats and independents.
The time to prosecute this discussion was 6 months ago. No democrat hopeful would come out and say Biden is too old and force him into a democrat primary debate.
It’s funny when this topic was brought up earlier it was circle the wagons don’t hurt the electoral chances and now it’s a feeding frenzy. This is the opposite of the timing that those things should happen. 1 year out you should be having all the debates on suitability and now should be circle the wagons time.
I don’t know if ditching him now improves his chances or if it would be better for him to have town halls and other non scripted events leading into the next debate. Depends if he is truely impaired or if the debate was him being off.

Jon Stewart had a segment on his show the other day that showed several instances of Biden reading the do not read parts off the teleprompter, like 'pause' and 'end of quote', etc. So nah. It's basically elder abuse at this point.
You should watch the whole thing, but go to 4:50 for the teleprompter piece. (Posted a few pages back by direwolf, worth a repost)

See this is why I love Stewart. IMO he's one of the few unbiased comedians left on TV.
I used to love Colbert when he was on the Daily Show and his schtick on The Colbert Report was great. He's basically become a liberal version of The Colbert Report but not in a funny way. I watched a monologue of his a few days ago and it was Fox News level of embarassment. The guys a hack now.

Here is the crazy part, when you have a known liar as your opponent, and you position yourself as a truth teller you need to tell the truth consistently to create a difference between you and them.
If you begin to give the perception you are hiding things and not being honest with the electorate you lose that perception and credibility.
The story becomes all politicians are the same. They all lie and hide. The White House has not been truthful with either Biden or Americans. Its now fact.
I didn’t say Trump = Biden. I said the high ground requires a perception and upholding a value your opponent doesn’t have.
The Dems major winning point was they would always be straight with people. That is Bidens brand. Its gone now.

I don't think that's accurate. The Dems major selling point was that they were the status quo rather than the doomsday evangelicals, anti-vaxxers, militia members, white supremacists, professional grifters and men's rights activists.
You can of course argue that the status quo is problematic, but not nearly as problematic as the proposed alternative being offered by the populist mob on the right.
Remember when Dean Phillips told everyone Biden is a not the candidate to beat Trump and the Democrats need to align behind someone else, like him and then everyone made him out to be the worst human alive for saying that?

Shocking to everyone of course.
Actually I don’t remember that. Got any links? Sounds interesting
