I'm having a beer on my clay pile. Not sure where that ranks in this particular pissing contest.

Not a great start. Do you have a nice hat, something in the fedora category?
How about a chuckle? What kind of chuckle do you think you could muster?
The right kind of chuckle and a tip o’ the fedora to your m’lady could really tie this all together, fella.

It's not the end of the world to let cool season grasses go dormant during a bit of a heat wave anyway. Brown does not usually equal dead, the grass just goes dormant to protect itself, and should generally come back with the next good rain and cooler nights.
I've given up on keeping fescue green in the summers in Virginia. The amount of watering it takes (2-3 hours per zone daily, maybe even twice daily when it's really hot) is ridiculous. It's always looking good in the spring and fall with little to no watering.

I'm over my lawn, it's almost pointless to have it at this point. Chinch bugs, and voles have their way with it anyway.

How are people’s lawns not bright green and lush
We have had so much rain.
Just keep your lawn longer and it can withstand dry periods (which we ain’t had many of this year)

I'm thinking about that for next year.
We have grass out back not a lot, but I do like walking in and laying on a nice green grass when it is hot out

Could be chinch bugs if he was rolling around naked, making “grass” angels, etc?

Down to the last of the 70-gallons of neon water I collected a month ago.
Interestingly (to me!):
All of the water was collected during one rain storm. It only took about a minute to fill one five gallon bucket during the height of the storm.
My garden takes between 10-15-gallons of water, depending on how many days between watering, how hot it is, etc. Most of my garden receives no rain as it's against a house and south facing, so no help there.
I didn't water my grass or shrubs once. Most received some rain. Much of the grass seed I planted in the spring didn't make it regardless of the rain and having a good head start on the water restrictions.
Poplar fluff is going to #### a rain barrel system right up. It's brutal near Confederation Park. The fluff already wreaks havoc with eaves and downspouts, the 2-3" catkin that fall a few days after the fluff ends brings more probelms. I have to figure that out if I go that route.
