They do right now yes, but I'm thinking the more we can have to spare the better, especially if we take on some bad contracts in trades for futures. I certainly don't disagree that there is a world where we can keep Coleman around for the rebuild. But I'm also thinking how effective he'll be when we're coming out of this said rebuild.
I see him and Andersson in the same boat where we could feasibly keep them, but we might as well maximize on the return while they have good value. Perhaps the TDL might be more opportune time to ship them - but I say strike when the iron is hot.

Yeah. I’d want the plus coming from the Jackets

We'll take Holloway.
Last I heard, Kane was refusing to waive his NTC.....

I can’t imagine any scenario, even if Kuzy is at a 40G pace, where he would get more than a second at the deadline, more likely a third. He has a reputation and I am sure Fans don’t see him as a guy who helps you win in the playoffs.
Laine on the other hand, get him firing over the next year and a half and you may be able to sell for a first +.
That’s why you do it

Really? Kuzmenko has been in the NHL for a total of two years and has never been in the playoffs. Where and when did he build this reputation you're talking about?
Even if the fans were making the decisions for other teams, how the hell would they know whether he's any good in the playoffs or not?

Fortunately, you're not trading him to "Fans," you're trading him to a General Manager.

I hope Kuzmenko reups in Calgary. He’s the most exciting player we’ve had since Johnny left.

Kuzmenko at a 40G pace easily nets us a 1st and probably something else.
When your top players get shutdown, you need scoring. McDavid went pointless, Crysaddle disappeared. They had no one to do anything. 100 point Nuge ????
A guy like Rodrigues really stepped up for Florida.

And Rodrigues was waiver material before his time in Florida. What a great find for the Panthers.

The Hurricanes have had 50 draft picks in the past 5 years, for an average of 10 per year. In that time, they have a 278-130-44 record, which I believe is the best in the league.

I don't agree with that at all, he was great in Colorado and Pittsburgh.

4 year 12 million dollar contract is now apparently the same as “waivers”

Yeah you're right. It might have been before Pittsburgh and Colorado too. If I recall correctly he was either put on waivers, bought out, or let walk. But I might be wrong on that. Either way that must have been around the 2020/2021 time frame.

Pittsburgh traded him to Toronto in the Kasperi Kapanen deal, and then Toronto didn't qualify him and he re-signed with the Pens.

I know right. If Kuzmenko is anywhere near the ballpark of 40 goal pace, a 1st round pick is the starting point. There would be a + because likely the other team would want retention as well.

I’m a long suffering fan and I turned my 16 year old boy into a Flames fan. We’re loving this rebuild (retool?). I’ll cheer them on but every loss gets us closer to a franchise center. It’s the only way for a small market team. Conroy is a breath of fresh air. When Tre signed Tanev to 6 years I sure don’t miss that. Great player, horrible term. Hopefully Conroy sticks to his guns.
