Ya, because he is going to waive his NMC to come here. That isn't happening.

Hopefully not enough to cover up the obvious deficiencies on D and in net.

The point was, it's not something they should have been able to do given their cap situation.
You can put anyone on McDavids wing and they will score. Hyman had 50 goals a checker in Toronto.

Draistal can’t carry a line and they play together and play what 30 minutes a night.

These guys can’t all play at the same time.

Such a poorly built team and the guy they need to balance out the team only flourishes with McDavid.

Did people watch the playoffs? We are very fortunate the Oilers didn’t win a Stanley cup. They are as formidable as any team in the NHL right now.

Yeah they got extremely lucky. They won't get out of round 1 next season.

No they aren’t, the seas parted to get them to the final and officiating and a normal sure fire multi-game suspension non call got them close.

I did and I can tell you that they had the easiest path to the cup final.

The west was a joke. LA was hopeless. Vancouver somehow got to the 2nd round putting up 12 shots a game. Dallas beat the last 2 cup champs and looked dead, and even then the Oilers out up 10 shots in game 6 and somehow won. Colorado looked like a juggernaut until that stuff happened.

The Panthers looked like they panicked with the 3-0 series lead.

The only team that improved in the west today was Nashville.

Offer
Holloway 2 x $1.5MM
Broberg 3 x $3MM

Give up the 2nd round pick

It is a poorly built team, but let's not make things up. Hyman had 70 points in 94 games his last 2 seasons in Toronto. The whole reason Edmonton signed him was that not only had he proven he wasn't a checker, he had shown he could contribute playing with elite talent (Matthews).

And as much as people rag on McDavid and Draisatl for playing a lot, I believe MacKinnon and Rantanen topped them in ice time this past season, so they're hardly unique.

Their goaltending is wildly inconsistent and their D will be mediocre as long as Nurse is there, which based on his contract, will be forever. And if they get Bowman, there an even more terrible organization than they were. But there are enough legitimate reasons to criticize them without needing to exaggerate.

Don’t agree. LA is not going to be worse, Vancouver will be as good, Seattle got better, Nashville got better, Colorado will be good again.

Oilers are going nowhere.

I can’t see LA being a threat.

Colorado is going to be good. Seattle not sure Nashville got better. Vancouver may have gotten better, but I think their style is so bad they will be in tough to beat good teams.

Edmonton also had a fluky 16 game win streak to even get into the playoffs.

Everything came easy to them.

I take solace in that an otherworldly pk got them as far as it did. No way this group of forwards can repeat that

Not really, with a healthy Demko the likely don't get past Vancouver last playoff, now the teams they'll have to face all got better on paper.

Why would he care whether the Oilers bought him out or the Flames did?

Path was easy, but Vancouver played great playoff hockey.

It’s nonsense and typical E=NG behavior around here to dismiss the run they just had and the threat they still are in the west.

Other teams got better. I hope their path is harder next year. But first round fodder?

Off with the homer lenses.

Vancouver mailed it in after game 4 and somehow managed to get to game 7.

They had 10 shots until about 10 minutes left in the game.

They had their third-string goalie in the net and were hardly shooting the puck. That's not great hockey of any kind.
