They need to not give 2 days off between travel games in the finals to start. Its supposed to be a grind, so grind.

He needs more skill to play with and an active D that rushes in as the late trailer to pass to. That’s what I saw the most when looking over Panthers Huby video.

Can’t see Pesce turning down New Jersey, seems like a perfect match for both

Both Roy and Pesce would be good adds on 4-5 years deals. Solid top 4 right shot Dmen.
Have to think they will be in demand around the league though, and I doubt CGY would win out in the end unless it's a gross overpay IMO

Overpay Bertuzzi on a one year deal, ship him at the deadline. Perfect candidate

Would be nice to take on something like Josh Anderson's contract from Montreal in return for our first round pick back.

It's not like Bennett and Duclair were way more skilled than the various players he lined up with on the Flames. I can buy the part about a more active defense being a late trailer though.
He also needs a powerplay that knows just what the hell is going on. In Florida, he feasted on the powerplay to put up points.

If they want to keep that option open, it means trading neither of them.

You can work out a trade after they match, not before. That offer sheet would cost a 2nd round pick. That is great value.

If Montreal sends us Josh Anderson, it won’t be for the first round pick owed to them. Why would they?
Sending Anderson to us for their own 2026, likely with conditions, is far more likely.

With who the Flames are looking at I'm feeling pretty good about the fact they're gonna reel in some of that cap flexibility and snag a good young player attached with another players bad contract
I keep going back to CLB and getting KJ.

Seems like a really critical 2024 summer activity.

What about Patrik Laine as far as bad contract? 26 years old recently. He could rebound nicely.

Who cares? We're rebuilding. It's water under the bridge.
His cap hit doesn't even matter until the Flames future superstars exit their ELCs which in and of itself is a minimum 4 years at which point the cap will be higher and there will be 3 years left on Huberdeau's deal.

Why would Ottawa give up Chabot for a guy older and closer to UFA, plus 2 good NHL centers for a guy who looks like he could be a top-9 player at this point, and just a 3rd?

Edmonton is definitely trying hard for DeBrusk but they have to get rid of Kanes salary.
Not sure who’s going to do them that favour.
They’ll outbid Calgary on term alone 6+

I think Waddell is treating a Laine trade like he has value and won't be swinging attachments with him.
