It’s so lame that they’ll be doing this remotely from now on. I want Vegas showgirls every year.

Rankings are about who is more likely to be an NHLer when you get later in the draft...NHLers are all over the place for free or low cost, good quality NHLers.
Use the draft to shoot for the stars, you can always find 3rd and 4th liners. I think this is what they are doing.

Zary played what 40 games? No way he is a prospect for our summer pool.

Exactly. I hated when Sutter drafted for Chucko. Using a 1st rounder for drafting a 3rd line upside guy. There has to be a certain amount of upside to go for in these drafts.

Does this not tie up their'26 pick for purposes of trade until next off season? Giving them only the 2027 pick as a trade deadline bullet?

is Bedard not a prospect?
I think it should be about age, not number of games

Further explanation of the conditions from LeBrun.
https://twitter.com/user/status/1806894859342524833
Essentially the 2025 pick is top 12 protected. If the pick is top 12, Flyers get 2026 1st.
However if the Oilers decide to trade the 2026 1st, the Flyers will get the 2025 1st no matter what.
Oilers seem to have built the conditions to use the 2026 1st at the 2025 trade deadline.
