The replies are great. He’s so far inside the heads of Edmonton fans. There’s even people talking about the 5 cups they won… 35 years ago
Crazy to think how bad the Panthers and Matthew Tkachuk were in the 1980s

Normally I get pretty annoyed at threads being bumped without any useful new information but this thread can be bumped forever and I will have no complaints.

i was at a get together with a bunch of people this past weekend. three of the guys showed up wearing oilers caps and i belted out something like, "good thing i didn't wear my panthers tee shirt.... that might have been awkward!"
a couple of them just glared at me!
ha! ha! i love it!! there is never enough oiler salt!

Sunny Mehta got his name engraved on the Cup for Florida as Assistant GM and Head of Analytics.
Back in the advanced stats infancy stages, he was a big contributor on the Irreverent Oiler Fans hockey analytics blog that was run by Vic Ferrari. Ferrari (Tim Barnes) ended up as analytics director in Washington and won the Cup there.
Tyler Dellow was another guy that frequented that blog and as VP of analytics for the Devils also has a good chance at winning the Cup in the future.
Pretty damn cool that an interest in stats allowed these regular joe hockey fans to eventually make their way into the inner circle of NHL management teams.

Was Tyler Dellow the guy that claimed Ty Conklin was going to be better than Martin Brodeur (among other things) or am I thinking of someone else?
