I don't want to see Weegar moved, but if it is for OTT's #7, and Demidov, Lindstrom or Silayev are available, I'm all in.

I would speculate that he's requested a trade. No way the flames put him on the market with their current center depth.

Conroy could have a great secondary career as an Auctioneer!

Marner needs to get traded. If that goes down I bet Kadri to the leafs happens

Kadri will be 34 before the season starts. He will be 39 before the season starts in his last year. I don't think he makes it to 39. I think the Flames will have to buy him out at some point.

The smart move is to trade him if there is a dance partner. I am very, very happy with this move, as it leaves the Flames with only 1 poor contract to worry about.

All traded in the last calendar year. Its an absolute tear down
By "full tear down" I think they mean trade guys they don't really have to. 5 of those guys were UFAs who weren't coming back. Mangiapane would have been after this season and wanted a change. Markstrom is the only guy that fits that and there's multiple reasons why trading him now made sense.

Lol I find it absolutely hysterical that some want to question Pagnotta's credibility.

Projection?

At least a massive lack of any sense of irony...

Kadri is not a poor contract and his best seasons have been in his 30s

It's like it never happened.
This would be the best scenario - then flip Monahan at TDL for another first

Pospisil is a fun player, but he tops out at middle six and you just can't be married to those guys. Plus there's the concussion risk.

Weegar is a guy you keep. Top pairing quality, reasonable salary, looks to be more durable as he ages (full seasons in the last 4 years). You need him to stabilize the D somewhat in front of Wolf.

Today it isn't, but it will be soon. Do you expect him to continue being an impact player in the back-half of his 30s? I don't, thus why I would rather the Flames move him if they have the opportunity to do so now, rather than have a buyout on the cap later when they are competitive.

Trade one of Weegar or Rasmus, I don't think it particularly matters for the flames which one. IMO you trade whichever nets the most in return.

Sign a bunch of UFAs to 1 or 2 year deals a little over what they're worth, trade them at the deadline for more picks.

^ overpay some UFAs on short term deals and we're good. Might also trade for a bad contract or two.

There is a 3rd possibility, being that teams are simply inquiring.

Would it shock that teams are calling Craig on one of his best veterans after he made 2 clear rebuilding moves since the season ended?

Kadri and Weegar are the 2 veterans signed to big term that likely could be moved for positive value based on their seasons and playing style. I just don’t think the Flames need to rush to trade either especially if there is retention required but if the price is met then let’s go!

Flames could pick up Ryan Johansen and the Flyers 2025 2nd for a ball of tape and get one center that way.
