The Democrats need to pivot here, they need to convince Biden it is the best interest of not only the party but for the US and democracy itself if he steps down.

^ Because they’d have to open the convention. Biden would have to release his delegates, and he isn’t doing that.

The CNN panel is ####ting their pants over the Biden performance right now. It is remarkable and not something I expected to see or hear from those folks.

Didn’t see it but Dems and CNN spin docs are panicking.
Even Van Jones calling for Dems to replace him.
The Dems have no one to blame but themselves for this debacle.
US is weak in the world.

Which really undermines their argument that Trump = the end of democracy in the US. If they actually believed that, they wouldn't be running an 81 year old who struggles to string several sentences together at times. This election would be an easy layup for anyone that the public had confidence in given Trump's unlikeability.

The Democrats have been acting like it’s business as usual for the past 10 years, when it’s been obvious to anyone who’s paying attention that it’s anything but. Trump getting in may mean the collapse of the current world order, the end of Western democracy, and a new age of strongman dictatorships all over the world, and they’re up there acting like it’s Bush vs. Dukakis.

If Trump's campaign is smart, they decline any more debates and let this be the one that sits with Americans. People will call him a coward, etc etc but Biden has nothing to lose and Trump has zero reason to let him bounce back in a second debate as impossible as that sounds.

At this point, it almost feels like senior abuse trotting Biden out there. It's like watching a zombie.

If there was ever a chance for a third party, independent candidate to steal an election it feels like this is the year. The door is wide open with these two terrible candidates.

I disagree. If you’re Trump you want another debate for sure, as long as Biden remains the nominee. I’m not sure how that could’ve been any worse for Biden. Maybe if he flat out fell down or seized up?

It has to be very likely that Biden is removed within a week.

Their shock is baffling. Anyone who has paid attention should have known that Biden has clearly lost a step and even the electorate has seen it based on the polls. I'm not sure why political pundits are somehow caught off guard.

The problem is figuring out who to parachute in. Newsom feels like a disaster since he won't play well at all in the important states.

I'd love to see someone like Gavin Newsom throw his hat into the ring, but I doubt he'd want to run.

The shock is calculated and not even in a bad way. There is a movement to get rid of him and they're in on it.

I felt bad thinking the same thing, they had to lock him away for a week to prepare and he came out badly confused, and at times incoherant and he was shaking, my first thought was they shot him up with Adderall.
I wouldn't put my Dad through this, its unfair and its cruel.
Its too late for him to step away for health reasons, Harris doesn't seem capable and the Democrats seem to feel it.
I hate Trump, I think he's a lousy choice for president. And I wonder how the hell this has happened to the American political class that two people that shouldn't be president are on those podiums.
I mean we have a ####ty situation with leaders up here, but America is to crucial to the world for this to be anywhere near acceptable.
