I haven’t been able to get a confirmation from another source but then again it’s 630 in the morning here in Vegas.

Utah is shopping their 1st for the right player. Marner is the name but he isn’t going to wave ####.
Seattle is leaning hold but someone close thinks they may swap with Montreal and include Wright.

It’s spicy down here.

Also… oilers suck. Their brass arrived last night. Don’t want to be here.
Not Weager!!! He’s the last d man I would trade from the flames.

Also why don’t you want to there? I would love to be where you are for the next couple days.

Just a reminder - enjoy CapFriendly while it's still around before and during the draft. It's gone soon after that.

So something around Weegar for #7 & Chychrun?

I presume cost being steep means we'd have to add #28 or something...

Well, if they trade Weegar for a top 10 pick I guess nobody can say it's not a rebuild haha

Needs more clever gifs IMO. Bolded above, As in if the player Ottawa is targeting is gone, The Sens could consider trading it to Flames for Weegar?

Wow. That’s some very interesting stuff! Thanks Sec!

That Montreal rumor makes me think Montreal is waiting to see what forward is available at their pick. If Demidov and Lindstrom are gone, I could see them trade back to 8th overall likely knowing Iginla will still be available there. Of course, Calgary could trade for 7th overall and get Iginla themselves in that scenario. Leaving Montreal to take Sennecke. Calgary could then take Catton at 9th overall.

That makes no sense for Ottawa. They’d likely want to keep Chychrun and include Chabot. Flames would likely have to add as well.

I suspect that he means the Oiler brass don't want to be there, because they are big fat losers.

Weegar is probably the easiest Flame to like right now for me, but I would absolutely trade him for a top 10 pick.

It also assures a bottom 5 finish next year.

And you still have enough veterans left with Backlund, Coleman, Kadri, etc.

Yeah same here. I'd trade rasmus way before weegar. Weegar is our best defenceman and it isn't close.

Edit: I'd trade them both for the 7th obviously just would prefer it to be rasmus.

Very curious who Ottawa likes enough to pick there?

Sounds like Weegar + for 7, which I'm fine with. Love Weegs but he's exactly what Ottawa needs at the moment and I'm sure he would love to be in a more competitive environment for his current contract regardless of how much he likes Calgary. Trading him (or Rasmus for that matter) swaps out a win-now piece for a guy like Buium for example who, along with the 9th pick, helps Calgary kick start the rebuild and also bottom out for the next draft or two.

Fingers crossed.

What about Weegar and 28 for Chabot and 7? Maybe the Flames add a bit but that would be great for the Flames.

Just so long as Weegar plays the Flames on opening night of the new building. He helped build it after all.

This is true, but all things considered, what do the Flames need more? An additional top 10 pick or a 30/31 year old defence man headed into next year?

I could see the argument both ways.

This mean potentially moving Weegar for a top 10 pick? Wow that would be something

Remember guys, it’s not a rebuild. They’ve only traded their number one center, top line winger, top pairing defenceman, best defensive defenceman, starting goaltender, and are listening on both their remaining top defencemen.

Definitely, really, very much not a rebuild. I’m so mad they’re retooling! We’ll never win trading established players for top ten picks in a retool!!

I'd do this 100%. I actually like Chabot, he's just a bit overpaid but we have no issues with that with ample cap space.

I'm curious if the Sens would rather move Chychrun though?

I’m going to be genuinely choked if we trade Weegar.
Where is the character on this team going to come from?

Coleman basically the only other bastion of positivity and work ethic left if that’s the case.
