The Sens screwed up because they told the NHL that Dadonov's limited NTC was invalidated because the player did not submit a no trade list in time when they traded Dadonov to Vegas.
This caused problems when Vegas tried to trade Dadonov to the Ducks because the Ducks were on Dadonov's no trade list and the league had to nullify the trade when the agent showed proof that the list was submitted in time.

I like this trade but the Flames have enough bodies. It’s better to focus on trading Mangiapane or Rasmus and take the bad contract back in a deal involving them rather than add a 2nd for a bad contract.
Chicago and SJ already full tanked and got their guys and their rosters are so bad they can add these types of players.

We'll have plenty of room for kids to play in the next few years, and if there's enough kids playing well that we don't have enough room, then trade another vet or two.
That should not be the tie up on taking advantage of cap
space in trades. This is something that teams must be doing when they're rebuilding, imo. More bullets in the chamber

Who? And why does he have an NTC?

Put them in the press box with a popcorn chef.
If you have an opportunity to buy a pick, do it at the right price. $10M + 4th rounder for a 2nd rounder is a horrible price.

Look, the NHL's fax machine is an old guy with a quill pen who listens to the incoming squeals on the phone and jots it all down on a notepad.
Now you expect him to be a database too?

Yeah I don’t know how sad billionaires are at the chance to declare a loss at tax time.
Seems better than Viagra for them.

They're sad if they had to lose actual money to do it.

He dresses in a robe with a sash and rides about town in a horse-drawn cart with a license plate that reads 'Fax Man' asking people if they have change for a Farthing.

How so? Chicago basically gets an awful contract and 10 million dollars in bad money and a 2nd rounder while also giving up a 4th rounder.
I hope Flames don't make these bad deals. 10 million needs to be worth more than the pleasure of drafting in the 2nd round.

It is worth more than that. Mikheyev may have rescued Chicago.

Mikheyev did have 31 points last year recovering from a knee injury. Even if you still figure 1 million for every 10 points, that makes him a 3 million dollar player making 4.75. That's not awful, it's just a little overpaid, and CHicago has a ton of cap space and Bedard is on his ELC for two more seasons, so the contract is not harming them at all.
And if he pulls a Dickinson and rebounds with more ice-time and another year of recovery, they can probably turn him into another asset at some point.

Bedard was almost PPG as an 18-year-old and could hit 90 points next year. Chicago should be throwing 1xHuge Money contracts at people to take advantage of these cheap ELC years, not fooling around with these types of trades.

You almost never see these ‘1xHuge Money’ contracts. Mostly, I think, because any player who's remotely worth the money has multiple offers with term coming in, and would prefer the deal with more total dollars.
