Good series Cali, Congrats on your teams first cup!
Bruh, I know I said you were dead to me at the start of the series, but you are no longer dead to me. Cheers on a helluva run. I give the Oilers a lot of #### because of the rivalry, but they really did earn it. That PK alone will live on in the record books.

No
You’re wrong on that count
I would definitely not have thought it was selfish to come out and get the award. Especially since every other conn Smythe winner has done it.
What makes him better than Glenn Hall for example?
Yeah, I wouldn't have criticized him - I thought it was expected. I would maybe even have felt empathy towards him. Maybe.

They really didn’t.
2 inept teams in the Kings and Canucks. One with a 3rd stringer who took them 7. A dead the water Dallas team.
A Walt Disney run.

But the powerplay of a team doesn't have anything to do with the other stuff. These guys all have players that can score on the PP.
Here's the regular season rankings for those teams on the power play:
Dallas: 6th
Florida: 8th
Vancouver: 11th
L.A.: 12th
The fact that they faced those teams and finished with a 94.3% PK is nothing short of remarkable. The Panthers PP was pretty good heading into the finals, and they only managed 1 goal.
It's okay to acknowledge real accomplishments when you see it, even if it's with a rival.

Puke. You were on such a run of quality posts. And then... ...
It's not hard. Who cares what someone else did 30 years ago.
As I said, it's a tradition. Traditions generally come about because people care what someone else did a long time ago. Is this a difficult concept?
I mean, if nobody cares what somebody did 30 years ago, why award the Conn Smythe trophy at all? Who cares if some bozo in the Maple Leafs organization decided that there should be a playoff MVP award way back in 1964?
And you might as well forget about the Stanley Cup. Everybody involved in starting that tradition has been dead and buried for decades. Who cares what Lord Stanley of Preston did in 1892?

My take
- I understand him not going to accept the award
- But it would have been admirable if he had.
And if he's the leader that he's described as - he should have.
As your self WWCD and you have your answer. Crosby would have done it. And that dude is as competitive as it comes. But he also understands the place he has in the sport.
Character and Leadership don’t come in a package. Not everyone is an Iginla.
Man... that main guy was waaay too professional for me.
If I'm him and my team is winning the Cup, you wouldn't even recongnize my voice. I'd be sooo high pitched from cheering you'd think there's another person on the mic.
Awesome call, but not enough raw emotion (aside from the #2 guy)
# 2 guy is Bill Lindsay, who was one of the original Panthers, played there through their cup finals run in the 90's and beyond, and also had a couple seasons as a Calgary Flame.

Iggy is far too humble for that. He wouldn't have come out either, but he would have explained in the post game that he appreciated the award, but it was Florida's moment in the spotlight, not his.

Thank you Cali.
Just for that, even though I'm a poor-ass 26 year old, I'm now donating $97 to your charity because AMAZING FOR YOU & THE PANTHERS & also *F*** the OILERS & McDraibaby (I originally wanted to say I was gonna donate $28 but I didn't want to be that much of a loser*)
Edit: Sorry, idk what to type in for the Zip code lmao
Edit #2: Ayyyy I got it! Had to use my mama's credit card as a 26 year old because mine by gltiching but Mary is from me <3
