The Oilers had 6 top-5 picks between 2010 and 2016 -- the player chosen with the next pick in 5 of those 6 years, and two picks later in the sixth year has won the Stanley Cup.

Also, just have to say that I was disappointed by all of you who failed to understand that math is absolute. It either is correct or not. When formulas are proven you must obey their rules.
E will always equal NG.
E = NG.
Never doubt the math.

OMG, thank you. What a ####ing ####head. Seriously, you're supposed to be the face of the league. Instead you act worse than my 6 year old having a tantrum.
"No I don't wanna!"
What a bitch. He's never won any major championship in any league he's been in. I hope it stays that way.
Some players you feel for when they lose, but never him. He's an entitled prick who has no humility.
A lot of the Oilers fans that were there probably blew a lot of money going there to support him and he couldn't even bother coming out for their benefit. It's so disrespectful.

Disagree. You guys say he’s all about individual awards don’t you? If so why didn’t he fly out there to get this. Instead he’s upset and with his team, quite frankly I respect him for that. This was entirely predictable and I dont it think he should have been the choice anyways.

You're right on this.

Even better was the producer cutting to pictures of his parents, twice, pops with the camera at the ready.
Gigure played in Calgary, so he learned some class along the way.
Hate to be that person, but it’s a generational thing. McDavid lost what he wanted and his feelings were hurt. Way more accepted the way he responded by younger generations than older ones.
I am Gen X and zero chance what he did would fly. Now there are no strong feelings. At the expense of being socially tactful
Not sure what it’s right. Sucking it up, or maybe that is too much trauma for people these days

No it just puts a nice bow on the NHL removing as many impediments as possible to showcase him. It was & is unprecedented. No player of his talent level has ever been gifted such an advantage of playoff officiating deviation, just because he was drafted & developed by one of the asset managing franchises on earth.
He’s earned his failure & if he’s dumb enough to stay in Edmonton, he can enjoy purgatory, and/or a rebuild.

I don’t think it’s generational.
I’m a millennial and would have enough class to go out there and accept an honour. I thought it was pretty cowardly of him not to show up and I hope Bettman was pissed that McWonder turned him down on such a big stage.

Its about respect, look at JS the last winner. He was frowning. No need to accept it smiling. Just have some respect for the award, skate out , frown, then Skate out.
This award is bigger than a player. Treat it as such. Put your hurt feelings aside

Ya, hard disagree. Generation has zero to do with it. Class and gratitude are personal attributes that transcend space-time.
He has none of it, it's on him.

Yeah, he's a real hero. It doesn't make him less selfish to go an mope after getting one of his individual awards just because he didn't get the big one.
