Boo, I haven't been able to play tennis in two weeks now. And just went to paintball today in Cochrane and with the rain and temp, my goggles kept fogging up. I need some sunny days

Hmmm...brown winters maybe. Most summers are pretty green here. It's the winters that are shake and bake brown. Really havnt had summer drought here for quite a few years. I remeber the 80's and early 90's being VERY dry.

What happened to all the rain we were supposed to get?

Here in High River it was mostly spitting this morning and now nothing. Road and ground is dry.

I love it when the weather dude gets it wrong again.

I think the guys in Winnipeg are operating on a hair trigger after the big downpour. Falls under the principles of it's better to have a false warning out than none at all. At least for them - I scrub golf plans due to their Chicken Little warnings of rain...

There has been alot of rain in the province so far. Just because it didnt all happen in High River doesnt mean the weather dude was wrong.

Current radar shows a band of rain stretching from near Edmonton southwards to Calgary and Canmore. So far reported rainfall amounts range from 20 mm to 60 mm. Bow Valley located near Canmore measured 50 mm and prentice near Red Deer measured 55 mm up to 6 AM this morning.

Also, the current front is spinning south so you might still get your fair share of rain.

I scrubbed my golf plans last Wednesday when they called for 10 - 15 mm of rain. It didn't rain and was actually a pretty nice day. Of course I was ticked at myself for missing a day of golf

Weather Canada said we were going to get between 50 and 100 mm of rain, with alot coming last night. For sure will get some rain but no where near the heavy amonts they were predicting.

Rainfall Warning is still in effect. From the radar, it looks like that system is heading back towards us.

Here in Turner Valley the wind is just ridiculous and rain is coming down pretty hard. Radar shows most of the heavier stuff moving south down the foothills.

How do you know?

For you guys saying EC was wrong, look at the first post again.

"Current information indicates total rainfall amounts of 50 to 100 millimeters are possible for the above mentioned regions by Sunday evening"

Note the word possible and regions. In this case, the region being Southern Alberta. I'd have to say that there warning is so far correct as it's not Sunday evening quite yet.

Here's a link to the radar and you can see for yourself where the majority of it's coming down.

They obviously think it's going to happen or they wouldn't issue a heavy rain fall warning. When Calgary got that nasty weather and flooding we were under a simliar warning and got nothing.

As for regions it's broken down into smaler units.

Warnings

Okotoks - High River - Claresholm
10:45 AM MDT Sunday 17 June 2007
Rainfall warning for
Okotoks - High River - Claresholm continued

Additional 20 to 40 millimetres of rain today.

20 to 40 is a far cry from the 50 to 100 mm's they were predicting yesterday.

Well that sucked. I'm in the office today, and a transit user, so I get to walk through the rain with my trusty umbrella. Downtown it's not too bad. I get to Franklin station and it's pouring and the station itself is flooded and my umbrella breaks and I get soaked walking to work. Just what I wanted to happen on a Sunday morning. Now I get to sit here in wet pants for a few hours while they dry off.

Take a look at the regions.
http://weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/ab_e.html

Note that if one little corner of that region is expected to get the rainfall, the entire region will have the warning.

As well, your new warning you posted said ADDITIONAL, which means on top of yesterday. Since they said 60mm has fallen in some areas already, an additional 20-40mm would give 80-100mm... shockingly close to yesterdays prediction eh?

That's great, but I bet somewhere in the region they did. It's a BLANKETED warning, not town specific... or even city quadrant specific.

You're taking their warnings out of context and don't understand the wide area of a warning and the word "possible". It didn't mean the area you were living in was guarenteed to get a crap load of rain. I'm done here.

Calgary got 93mm. Not sure about some of the other towns, though.
