What Iginla is open to is hearing the Flames call his son’s name.

“Oh ya, I’d be okay with that, and talking to him, he likes Calgary, too,” said the longtime Flames captain who now serves as a team advisor.

“There are tons of things I loved about Calgary, obviously: great place to live, close to home, passionate hockey market.

“As far as pressure, I don’t know if there’s more — I think there’s pressure, period,” said the author of 1,300 NHL points.

“He puts it on himself. He wants to be good, it’s in his compete. He likes it.”
Quote:
“He scores more on his shot than I would have at the same age, where I probably scored more goals in front of the net, off rebounds.

“I liked to work in the corners, so does he.”
Quote:
He knows the city of Calgary is hoping Tij and Dad will be working together here, which he finds heartening.

“We see some of it on social media and appreciate it and that makes us feel good,” he said.

“I’ve talked to him about it, it’s really cool.

“We’re not sure how it will play out at all.

“It’s so unpredictable, but I believe it will work out the way it’s supposed to.”

For me where we sit, I hope we can get Cole Eiserman. I think he could be one of the best in this draft. You can't teach hockey IQ and I think he's got huge upside on that.

Why are people so one-dimensional? You need balance. And if you fill the secondary roster positions with enough blonds, you can add high talent guys without having to worry about their hair color.
I mean, if you think that's a response to my post, well fill your boots I guess.

Still feeling like it's Iginla or Helenius, shy of some blockbuster getting us into 4th.

I think with their moves lately- it's going to end up being a forward and aside from Demidov - I do expect one of those guys to be available when Flames go to pick at 9. I think there is plenty of attraction for the Dmen in this draft that would allow that to happen.

Celebrini
Levshunov
Buium
Parekh
Dickinson
Silayev
Helenius
Yakemchuk

I think enough of these players get picked in the top 8 for one of the aforementioned 4 players to be available when Flames go to pick.

My incredibly basic logic of assuming that the Buttons like the same players leads me to believe we don't rate Catton highly. Yak I could see though. Also, big equals good.

The worst case scenario is that Iginla is on the board at 9 and there is 0% chance that the Flames pass on him. And for some reason he doesn't pan out and the guy picked next at 10 turns into a superstar.

Stuff of nightmares.

Yakemchuk is going to slide, every year we see guys ranked high slide drastically and I have a strong suspicion based on some scouts comments that he’s going to be that guy.

So was Zary's. But we have one of the best skating coaches in the league. Take the guy with the best brain, the skating will be fine

Which would explain Conroy's desire to get another top 15. If he slides into that 11-15 spot, that would be an amazing spot to grab him

Some more on Tij Iginla....

From what I have heard and I get very small crumbs is that wherever Tij does end up, its been "green lighted" by his dad so to speak. The belief is that everyone has been given that opportunity that if they want to pick him, they can.

However and this is just my personal opinion-- human nature makes it very difficult to avoid back channeling etc. I mean Jarome becomes assistant to Conroy at a very very convenient time. So I do think there is a decent chance that Flames end up with Tij Iginla. There's a lot of mind games that go on....he's getting ranked at #3??? Everyone (especially these media guys) serve a master and to an effect carry out their agenda. All of a sudden 2-4 weeks before draft, he starts jumping from 8-12 to top 5?.....Ok there. Anyway this is just me being skeptical and is completely 100% my personal opinion.

There's always one player that slides.

Last year it was Andrew Cristall.

Flames just be better to pull the trigger if they get the chance. Nothing worse than having multiple firsts and passing up an opportunity like that.

I believe Tij will be our pick. Just saw Flames.com writers all having him go 5 or 6. Button ranks him 3 out of nowhere using his dad’s scouting report which is strange .

I like a good conspiracy theory sometimes.

Correct.

You have to realize not all development until the draft is the same. You could have a great skating player who's parents have pumped thousands into their development with skating coaches and camps.

Draft the player with the higher hockey IQ every single day.

Who is now an average skater. That doesn't mean that a poor skater can't become better than average, Point being an example. What the Flames' skating coach can get from each player will vary.
