How does this show our commitment to compete for playoffs? haha
This is why I'll never believe those who claim the Flames want to be a playoff team next season. This move, in no way shows that the Flames are trying to compete for a playoff spot. He just has to do PR for the team so that the players don't phone it in.

"The depth, the goaltending, the defence and the size of the defence. It just shows you how long and physical the playoffs are — you need guys that can battle through. You need a lot of depth."
They like him because he's a huge defence.

After months of being edged with the tantalizing prospect of #10 this feels like a real letdown of a return. Never heard of this Bahl guy, another 4-6 type defender to fill a roster spot along with what’s probably a mid 20s first round next year?
Also I don’t give a squirt of piss what the front office says this is a rebuild. Call it what you want but not having a starting goalie signals full rebuild. No re-signing these short timers, ship out kuz and anyone else not on an NMC next.
I'm surprised that many of us are disappointed with the return here...why the high expectatioms?
A 1st round pick and a decent young, controllable defenseman seems pretty good for a 35 year old goaltender who re-built his value last season.
This is great asset management. We have 6 first round picks in the next 3 years.
If the Flames really want to grab another top 10 pick this year, they have the currency to do so.
I think it's cause Bahl is not an overly sexy add. We have plenty of young D we recently added to the organization and Bahl seems to profile as a 5-6 dman with a slight upside to be more.
I'm disappointed in the 10th not being involved, but not overly surprised. Happy with another 1st as the consolation but not overly excited about Bahl as the other piece.
It is what it is. We have alot of draft capital so there's that, I guess.
