I'm no sec or diss but have some connections specific to certain things.
All I can say is, Conny would never out Jacob in the media nor would he overplay his hand when he's dealing from a position of power.

Keep in mind that just about every real hockey insiderrr including the 2 most known for being accurate and sincere in LeBrun & Dreger have both all but basically beat this drum for weeks now.

It's no secret Jacob was shopped at the deadline, its no secret he wants to play for a contender and its no secret the Flames are not in a position of strength when it comes to contending.

I trust my source and appreciate when I get updates. I've asked if I can share those with some Fans who love the team as much as I do and so I've been allowed to do so. All I can say is trust the process and hope Edmonton loses tonight so we can get the fluid moving.

Why would they wait to announce a deal? The Flames didn’t wait in announcing the hiring of a new assistant coach? Why wait on this news?

Traditionally, big roster moves are under a gentleman's agreement to happen after the finals. Don't think it's got anything to do with the teams and more to do with the league.

Coaching hires and firings aren't the same level. Same with waiver wire stuff.

I can't recall the last time if ever there was a major roster move happen during a cup finals.

Sounds like Bettman and the NHL doesn't want (this is nothing new, happens every year) any trades announced during the playoffs. Feel it can pull focus away from the games.

Don't think the hiring of an assistant coach drives the same type of interest a major player move would, so that's the difference.

Because coaching hires are rarely done in such a manner where you see one active team transfer a coach to another. Though this could be why we haven't seen Savard hired in Toronto yet, but I cant comment for certain.

Player movement usually involves 2 teams making a transfer from active roster to active roster and there's been some history behind not doing so during the finals.

Trust me, I want it to happen as fast as the rest of us and I want to know what the value is etc, but I'm simply sharing what I've had shared with me and apologize if its not enough.

You have nothing to apologize for

Nothing to apologize for. Just asking a really obvious question and it has been answered by a few people. With the long breaks between games I don’t know why the league would care about having some news in the media? I guess we’ll find out this week or next after the cup is awarded.

Don't think they want anything to steal the cup spotlight. Not like a Markstrom trade is major breaking NHL news.

What's that based on?

If it's Francis' article I think people need to take this stuff with a grain of salt.

It was suggested on one of the podcasts (I think 32 thoughts?) that bettman has asked the teams to announce any major trades at the draft. Obviously they don’t have to listen but sounds like there’s a huge push to have this draft be a spectacle. Partially because it’s at the sphere, and partially because it’s the last full in person one.

You know what pulls people away from games, 3 days between game day. So dumb!

The US network wanted that so the NBA and NHL weren't on at the same time.

Bettman must have thought of a hundred different snide remarks to say when he walks up with his trademark "We have a trade to announce" schitck
