Or toss a brick or two in the other 3 and see if anyone notices a difference. if it has a floating shutoff you can often move those down a bit so less water goes in.

Did the brick trick at a rental years ago. Forgot to take it out when we moved out. Sometimes I wonder what they thought about that.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but does anyone know if the off leash dog park in Shouldice is still blocked off?

You really get to witness the stupidity that takes place in this city during times like this. Like, a f'ing bigass pipe broke that is not easily fixable and the city is asking us for our help. Yet, people are more upset about the city's posts on social media not being specific enough, or not getting enough information from the photos? WTF, a pipe broke and the water use needs to be dialed down a bit to conserve a bit while it gets fixed. The F some people need charts and graphics to understand that? Use less water, it's that simple. Apparently there is an entire army of redneck keyboard engineers ready to go, so I guess we have them to keep us informed

Even more annoying is all the political nerds come out of the woodwork and once again we go on this stupid merry-go-round of left vs right, Gondek this Trudeau that, I can only imagine how r-word-ed some people get if they call a plumber to fix a leaking pipe. Are they standing over him ranting about politics? Christ.

It's amazing to me during times of crisis like this, how there are scores of people who magically become pipeline experts, project managers, master of all things construction, public relations advisors, engineers, etc...

In my boomer-filled Facebook community group, there was a guy who was complaining how in the photos there was no one working on the site and claimed it should be done in days. His qualifications? "I workED in construction".

Someone else who was complaining about how Gondek looked like she showered and why did her hair look good.

My neighbours just got back from Calgary. They asked me if I heard about the water situation, and then went on to tell me how weird their experience was asking people about it. Lots of “it’s all bull####, there’s no problem”, “it only affects one community in the north”, and a lot of general “fake news” vibes. They were pretty weirded out about the reactions. Sounded unsurprising.

Given the water usage figures, it’s clear most Calgarians are taking this seriously and reducing their consumption. Sure, some people are ignorant or selfish. But you’ll never get 100 per cent buy-in for something like this. You take your 75-80 per cent compliance and call it a win.

In their minds, nothing bad can ever happen by chance. Any time something bad happens, it MUST be part of some grand conspiracy to ruin their lives.

It’s nuts that many are blaming Gondek. That line was built decades ago. Those people don’t understand how local government works. The mayor makes no decisions.

I think generally people are fed up with the state of infrastructure, parks, and facilities.

Potholes on every road, once a city with good roads now in the bottom percentile nationally.

Parks and school yards overrun with dandelions to the point of absurdity, the playground and boulevards near our house are an unmowed eyesore, the outfield for my kid's t-ball knee high clumps of overgrown weeds.

The water pipe is another sign of stuff being left beyond the crumbling point.

People see their property taxes go up every year while the city physically looks like its headed the wrong direction.

The city announced years ago they were ending dandelion control, this shouldn't be news to anyone.

I don't know if people understood that meant school fields would be borderline dangerously uneven to run around on. I didn't care when they first threw in the towel, but its gone past where most people probably imagined. Some neighborhoods seem way worse than others.

I am surprised that it seems like the older generations are the ones that have gotten so soft here. What’s going on?

The children can have a little herbicide-based cancer, as a treat.

It is, and has always been, projection
