I heard they're going to flush it into the basements of Sunnyside homes for old time's sake.

Wooo, temporary indoor pool!

And fresh, chlorinated water this time. So lucky!

We could be looking at mid next week for full resumption of normal operation.

So 5 days actually means 11 or 12 days? Got it.

I though the mayor said she was going to be better with updates.

7 was pretty optimistic. We were out 2.5 months on a simpler line.

She meant in the sense of giving better scheduled updates, twice daily. That doesn't relate to the timeline slipping a bit.

I knew we should have voted in a Civil Engineer as mayor last election

We should have elected the Road Works manager. That guy knows how to get things done!

'5 days' was actually 5-7 'at the earliest and once the leak is identified'. About a million caveats and very clearly stated as a very optimistic scenario.
End of this week vs mid next week is not that big of a difference, put your pitchfork down.

You're telling me. Staring at the GPA requirements for Civil was always the only reprieve after a final exam felt like it went poorly in first year.

I'm not pitchforking.

But did they not know about the 5 days required to bring the fixed pipe online when they gave the initial estimate of 5-7 days?

I think this was new territory and they were doing their best. I feel like the city has done a good job. Not saying you're out for blood, but I don't think we need to be holding them to estimated timelines (and I do recall they were saying "at least") from the day this happened.

Kind of disappointing to see some car washes full of customers still

Along those lines, I wish the City would stop reminding people not to wash their cars, as if you were ever allowed to in the first place. Every time I hear it, I am like, “wait, we are normally allowed to wash our cars at home?”.

Yes, you can wash at home, just no soap.
