Conroy is not the only person in management, or even the top person. Could have been Bean or Maloney.

Regardless of age. Two seasons at 3m per year gives you more than you're paying for. The Flames eating 3m per year on the remainder is a nothing burger to them. At least it should be unless they have plans to use that in the next couple of years.

I 100% agree which is why I think they shouldn't even question retention. $3M Markstrom has great value. But at the same time does Jersey see their window as 2 or 3 years? If they go with Ullmark or Saros they might get 5 or 6 years potentially. But retention should make Markstrom more appealing.

Saros may not be available and the price to trade Ullmark in the same conference will be very high, if he is even willing to waive for NJ. Conroy has a lot of leverage, especially with more teams in the mix apparently.

We need to do anything we can to get rid of Markstrom before the seasons starts. Love the guy, but he could single handedly take away that draft pick for us, if he plays anything like last year.

Last year showed that Markstrom can play brilliantly if he has a competent defence in front of him, but if not, he stinks. As the Flames' D corps stands now, the only thing Markstrom could single-handedly take away is his own trade value.

Allen is just good enough to play a lot of games for a bad team. I wouldn't object if he came here for a while.

Having a bad year, but not quite bad enough to meet the conditions to keep our pick only to get Florida's in the 25-32 range would suck.
