I knew it. Poor people without dishwashers are the problem. Not to mention their low-efficiency vintage shower heads and taco bell diets which require double flushes to get off the bowl.

I'll give you that. But when 7% of the commercial accounts are using 34% of the cities water, the math is clear where the majority of the consumption is coming from and where the most rapid and reliable relief in a situation like this can be found.
Even that 230L/day figure above seems ridiculously high compared to any usage I would approach. The typical shower is ~50L, dishes ~13L, laundry ~50L, handwashing ~10L. Even if you assume you're doing the laundry everyday in addition to the shower, handwashing and dishes, you aren't even hitting anywhere near that number.
A lot of people must be beyond reckless with water consumption and are simply ignorant to water usage. If that is the case you are certainly not reaching them during a time like this anyway.

You must be like me and not have a garden of any size, or a lawn. That just literally soaks up the water.

Just to clarify, per Enmax, the 7,000L/month is per person, so for example, a household of 4 is expected to use 28,000L/month...

Is that overall water usage in Calgary divided by the population? In other words it would include industrial use?
Regardless there are lots of other ways we use water. Toilets are a big one, think of every time you flush. Cooking and food prep uses some too. It does add up.

Just take a look at your water bills to compare.
For us last month was 17m3 over 27 days. So around 630L per day for household of 2 adults + 1 toddler and 1 baby.
That average is not far off really?

I haven't seen it if they have an estimate. Last tweet I saw was water stopped flowing at 1:45pm.

I am actively involved with the situation, at the moment work may not even begin on the repair until the weekend as there is enormous amounts of water to remove before. Exact location of the break is unknown and it thought to be in the Safeway parking lot however, there is concern that it may run under the building as well.
ENMAX is also worried about critical infrastructure being damaged, which Could have widespread power outage consequences throughout Northwest Calgary. The crews I’m working with have never seen anything like this.

So probably at least a week since they are 24/7 on this. Not the end of the world.

Makes me feel better now. Three of us in the house, last billing cycle was 7m3 over 28 days or 250l/day. We're consistently <10m3/month for the majority of the year when I look back.

Godspeed. It’s amazing how much is now in the budget when you run to failure. A lot of money has been saved, now it’s time to spend it!

50L Shower (A 5 minute shower is actually supposed to be closer to 75-90L)
13L Dishes
50L Laundry (Supposed to be closer to around 80-150L per load depending on age of washer)
10L Handwashing
-----
120L
There's also still significant usage for things like:
??L Drinking/food prep/cooking
??L Flushing (bathroom)
??L Brushing teeth/shaving etc.
??L Washing/cleaning house/vehicle etc.
??L Humidifier/evaporating
??L Plants?
and do you turn on the water and wait a moment for it to get cold or hot? That adds up too.

We're never going to be able to flood Sunnyside with this lack of water.
