It’s no fun to hear about your son, one way or the other. I also don’t try to give too much input because, as a dad, i know we only see the best parts. There’s a dad bias – so i kinda stay out of that.
“he played center growing up for the most part,” said jarome. “when he started in seattle, playing as a 16-year-old, he probably played half and half, center and wing, but he didn’t play that much. So then this year, he played wing pretty much the whole time. But he talked to the coach going out and next year he’ll work at trying to get him to play center. He enjoyed center more. He wants to be a center. The coach said he’ll give him a chance next year. So yeah, i think he’ll probably be a center.

It's funny I was watching his highlights a lot yesterday afternoon and it was one thing I noticed...he commanded the puck a lot for a winger and the way he plays and thinks is similar to a center.
I think he will be able to make the transition to center for sure. He's effective in the middle of the ice.

I posed this question earlier in the Draft thread about the possibility of Tij being a center. Obviously he projects as a winger based on this past season, but his coach said he's going to be a full time center next year. He may still project as a wing at the NHL level, but that type of versatility would be tantalizing.
Also, unsurprisingly, Tij is jacked!

I would, and yet I wouldn’t.
If Tij isn’t there at nine, one of Lindstrom, Dickinson, Catton Or Parekh will be.
I don’t see Ottawa passing on a top-pairing OHL D.
Seattle probably saw Catton more than any other prospect - he’s got allegedly a higher offensive ceiling, played centre all year - they probably take him.
Utah, maybe - but I think there’s too many other American/Russian tantalizing prospects for them to reach for Tij.
The real wild card is probably someone behind us wanting to leapfrog us for Iginla, and I might do a trade to prevent that.
The jersey number on all the sweaters this year is 24.
Iggy’s first number in the NHL was 24.
Conroy’s last number in the NHL was 24.
It’s all aligning.
And I do selfishly really want this.

or you know the Flames take Sennecke, passing on Iginla, Catton, Yak, Helenius etc in the process

I've noticed a lot of mocks have us taking Wellenius with the Van pick. Is this happy or sad? I like Mews/Hutson there if they are still around.

Lots of positives about Wally that I've read...so good!
My dark horse with the Van pick is Teddy Stiga.

I'm not buying Iginla as a centre. He might have played it growing up but let's not ignore the fact of where he was ranked as a centre and what happened once he moved to the wing. His game didn't explode until he became a winger, I think that's very telling.

Doesn’t every winger basically start as a center and then get pushed to wings as they advance?

Whoever drafts him should be doing so with the assumption that he's a winger, and if he manages to transition to center successfully, that's just gravy.

Will you change your tune if he's Kelowna's #1 center this year?
I said it before, Iginla has as much chance of being an NHL center as Lindstrom, Helenius or Catton.
