No chance they would do that.

I sure hope so.

If it isn't the Habs though it'll be Seattle right before us, the team we squeaked past in the final days of the season after being 4+ points back.

Just how these things seem to go.

Huh, can't get the forum to load on desktop today. Strange. But hey, at least the Flames didn't fall in the lottery at all. Aside from a win, not falling is important too.

I think Conroy would be having discussions with other teams and would know that was coming, maybe he throws the Kraken a 3rd or something to swap picks.

Are any of these guys that we might pick considered "NHL ready?"

Because man there is not a lot to be excited about for the 2024-2025 Flames. That post trade deadline record suggests a very bad team projected over an 82 game schedule.

Unless they do some miraculous free agency work their roster is going to change very little. Looking at a Columbus/Anaheim level season IMO.

If GMs have any respect for Iginla, the fact he's now involved in the Flames management group, they should be giving us a heads up on draft day if they plan on taking Tij.

You're not impatiently excited for some more Huby - Kuzy action?

Don’t think it works like that.

Can't find it now (and maybe someone posted it) - I think in an Athletic story - but winning the lottery only counts if you are moving original pick. So if you finish 32nd and you "win" the lottery, it doesn't count toward the limit because you stay right where you were.

I think any gm that is thinking of taking him will call the flames and say “we are about to take Tij, what’s it worth to you.” Maybe it’s a bluff but I think Montreal down will all inquire with the flames. To see if they can pry a pick out of Conroy to move up

I am definitely excited about Kuzmenko next season. He might put up some monster numbers. Huby....not so much.

I think its an interesting interesting situation for them
They have to give up a first. I suppose it depends on how much deeper next year’s draft class is perceived to be and how much better they think they will be.
I’d really be tempted

They have 3 years and should be on the upswing. No way you give up a guaranteed top 10 pick.

I assume it would take way more to move up even one spot in the lottery, especially if it was generally known that Flames wanted a particular player. Certainly more than a 3rd.

One spot? I don't think so. There are lots of good players available. Lots of mind games too. If they want way more you tell them to go ahead and draft him. If they like more than one player at that spot Seattle takes that 3rd. If not thats fine, we still get a great player. I think Seattle would be bluffing for an asset there anyhow, the expectation is they will go D.

I've also had this problem today.

Honestly knowing the luck of the Flames I was fully expecting to see us get bumped back.

Now I wait and hope Tij Iginla falls to us at 9. That said if he goes early there will be some nice players available.

If you have not read Doug MacLeans book about the draft it is a great read and really exposes the fact that these guys have a pretty good idea who is taking who on draft day. There is a lot of chatter and it isn't as cutthroat as I thought it would be. GM's are pretty amicable with eachother.

It is just the main page. It won't load. If you start right at one of the sub forums like this one it loads.

I thought the main page problem was just me and Bingo, the fact it's happening to others is good to know. The fact it's only the main page is very weird. I've tried a bunch of things (including turning off the user count stuff) and sifted through the logs but can't find anything yet. There's a thread in the help forum about it too.
