But If Calagry had 4 lines from Okotoks, Cochrane, Airdrie and Strathmore. Everyone's commute and life would be better.

Lol.. My 20 minute drive to my office is a 3 hour round trip with 3 transfers, and about 25 minutes of walking. My wifes 8 minute drive to her office is 1 hour with 2 transfers, it's all on major roads as well.

Calgary's public transportation system is an absolute disaster that needs to be fixed before anything else.

			Calgary to Banff most likely.
But I'm sure a Calgary to Edmonton line would have each terminus in like Crossfield and Wetaskawin making access to the core essentially impossible

 You are kidding, right?
https://www.projectcalgary.org/chu_is_mia_greenlineyyc
https://web.archive.org/web/20171018...the_green_line
Chu did #### all to advocate for the north to get the green line over the south, despite it being identified before the west line as the priority. We may be looking at an entirely different plan of Chu had actually done one ####ing thing in his life to actually earn his pay. Instead the south had strong advocacy and pushed through the project while we had a useless tit doing nothing.

Man, no wonder we have such ####ty politicians. Facts don't actually matter.

A line from Airdie, that stops in Balzac, the airport and then the zoo would be very welcome. It might even make your 20 minute car commute into a 15 minute car commute.

The city is only growing. By the time any rail line is built ( 10 years from now) the Greater Calgary Area will be on its way to 3 Million. If not on its way to 4.

That is not correct. He is single-handedly the reason why the southern section of the green line is being built out first, cause he was too incompetent to do anything but say “no” to anything.

this is probably more likely given the UCP's rural base.
a train for calgary / banff is just a train for latte sipping urban elites and other globalists

that the commuter rail idea is completely out of left field doesn't surprise me in the slightest with this government.

If it is Calgary-Banff, I wonder if the UCP advertises this as a way to not have to pay the federal National Park (Trudeau/Libs) fee. True or not (99% not), I bet you they lie with that #### to Albertans since that's usually their M.O. anyways.

I thought Airdrie to downtown Calgary was 10 minutes by car?

Please please please do a train to banff.
Anything to offload the amount of traffic and parking.

That place is a no go right now. If visitors could train then and back, that would a huge boon for both Calgary and Banff!

Maybe if you drive at 5am. Truth is everywhere within an hour drive of Calgary is growing like crazy. There are no brakes on that train, the province is no longer a sleepy little place. There needs to be infrastructure that looks 10 years into the future.

This is what being a strong advocate looks like:

Uh huh. I'm really curious now, Calgarygeolgist , where did you get your info/opinion on this from? Because I've never even heard someone claim this before.

How does the train help this? If it works it just creates more tourists and pressure on Banff infrastructure.

Are you basing that on ridership?

No basing it on the North of the city being populated by D-Bags.

While that may be entirely true, I am envisioning the first leg opening and being so underutilizes that the whole project is decried as a failure and never proceeds, so we’re still stuck on buses.
