Can you suggest a reason why they’d offer more in the offseason than they offered a week ago, when they were in save-our-season desperation mode?
|
Because if they sit on there hands they will lose out on another year of prime Hughes/Hischier? They are going to have enormous pressure to make improvements, while the flames are under no pressure to make a deal. Pretty simple.

It certainly has become a buyers market in the last week it seems

yeah it feels like the market has dried up quickly. Calgary and Montreal did extremely well when they moved Lindholm and Monahan early, it certainly hasn't been a sellers market since then.

So, NJD effectively dealt Sharangovich for a 60 games of Toffoli and a 2nd round pick at the end of the day.
That's not bad.

It would be interesting to look back and see if there's an up and down pattern to trade deadline returns. Last year GMs really got wild and spent a lot. This year prices are way down. Do you always get this kind of cautious hang-over following the big spending sprees?

Yeah, I don't see the Toffoli trade as selling, they tried to sign him and couldn't, so they are moving him.
Let's see if they try to replace him now

You know that speculating about this stuff is most of the traffic on this site, right?
Do you want it to all stop? Or just the speculation that’s critical of the Flames?

Guaranteed TSN will be better. Unless you wanna hear Ron try to justify how the oilers not getting any of their targets means that their team is already too deep

Midget? Really?
But FYI, there is a maximum height to be considered a "little person".

Did they say Calgary wouldn’t retain? Or did they say Calgary has historically been reluctant to retain? I recall the latter.
And there’s a huge difference between retaining on the few months left on a pending UFA, like Tanev, and retaining on a hefty contract like Markstrom’s for 2 more full seasons.

I don't expect to receive much if any updates today. People are very busy.
