[Trade] Hanifin (salary retained) to Vegas for Miromanov + 2026 1st + cond 3rd

We were told for a while the Hanifin return was going to suck. Hearing Leslie say they tried to convince him to stay last game was an indication they weren’t getting much for him. He has been available since the draft and the flames moved him less than 2 days before the deadline.

This deal underwhelms but of the 5 UFA’s moved 4 of the returns have underwhelmed initially.

TBH it's tough to call any trade that is a UFA trade the "worst in team history"

Everyone knew that Hanifin was available, if this is the best offer available then there is not a whole lot you can do.

It's disappointing, and ir sucks as a Flames fan that the market seems soft at the deadline this year after being hot last year. But the deadline is generally hit or miss like that.

In the end the biggest mistake that was made was that the team wasn't more proactive in the 2022 offseason or at the 2023 deadline to move some of these guys, so we had 6 prominent UFAs coming into the season.

This return, combined with the influence of Hanifin's agent and ultimately the deadline some 40 hours away just makes me double down in my belief that the Flames should have made these trades prior to the draft last year. As time went on, the Flames lost more and more leverage and while I do place a lot of blame on the player, the Flames had the ability to control this more than they showed.

Disappointed.

I like the condition. Vegas more likely to finish lower next season in my opinion. Especially with how they’ll close out this year.
