That's my thought too...which then means all these "he's not giving the Flames options" stories are overblown
Only having a list of 3-4 teams he'd be willing to re-sign with and not going to teams on his NTC list (which is only an 8 team list) is pretty normal.
I don't see why he would have a bigger list he'd be willing to re-sign with.

Any agent that believes he can manipulate the media into changing a GM’s thinking on a player’s trade value is dreaming!

I think it’s simply people getting mad that Hanifin isn’t ’being a team guy’ by exercising his right to sign where he wants to rather than to a team that will provide the biggest return.

Not sure the Flames are going to want to wait eight or more years for a player. Would have to be way more and more immediate for what Conroy wants to do.

I would be a little disappointed to have to wait until 2026 to see who we’re getting. I really don’t like TB as trade partners.

I hope that the Flames ownership group file a complaint with the league against the agent for tampering and get him suspended for the max term of 5 years.

Good luck doing that with Brisson - he apparently has the most players under contract in the NHL on his book.

They don't have to have better assets than the other teams. They just have to offer better assets. Nobody is going all-in for one player.

Others teams wouldn’t have just stopped making good offers. So either Tampa is offering an impressive package or Brisson stuck it to us.

Brisson hasn't got the power to stick it to anyone. The Flames can trade Hanifin to any of 23 teams, and those teams all know where he wants to sign and where he doesn't.

How Seravalli describes it is that multiple times Hanifin's camp has gotten involved and kiboshed deals by basically tampering behind the scenes and letting other teams know Hanifin doesn't want to play there. The reason they are able to do this is Brisson is the most connected agent in the league and has multiple connections in every front office who contact him when trade talks happen. It's also been reported that Hanifin doesn't want to be a rental. Basically they are controlling the process telling teams we won't sign there and we don't want to play there as a rental.
So no this is not good for the Flames or just business as usual. This is above and beyond. Steinberg confirms he has heard the same. Both agree that this is beyond a point where Conroy is trying to do right by Hanifin. Frank used the terms "Gloves are off"

People are so strange in this thought... A first round pick is worth a 1st round pick regardless of year. Everyone ####ting bricks about the Monahan trade, but that was a first rounders years out. Shouldn't be worth much with this logic. It's just you don't want to wait for the shiny toy.
If fact because people weight future picks as less than current picks, a team can increase their draft capital by biting the bullet one year. Trade your first for a first the next year and a second. Keep doing that and you keep getting more picks. This is because future picks should be valued the same, but they are not.

Teams my have an idea wether a player would sign or not but typically full discussions wouldn't happen unless the team gives permission or until after the trade.
Most players agents wouldn't be so aggressive telling teams that his player wouldn't sign on that team during the deadline because it would reduce their players UFA leverage.
It seems like Hanifins agent is going around the flames and telling alot of teams off. Hanifins camp must be confident that Hanifin will get what he wants in contract even if the pool is extremely limited.

I’d rather have a 2026 first from a team headed down than a mid-late 1st now in a draft that is by many accounts kind of bland. Even with lottery protection, you can’t just keep deferring it forever. At some point that Lightning pick has the potential to be a very good one, which should be the goal.

So what? If Hanifin is traded as a rental and refuses to play, he's in breach of contract and loses about $1.1 million (and Brisson loses his percentage of that, and pisses off that team's front office).
Hanifin is not going to give up seven figures, and Brisson is not going to burn bridges with his valuable connections, over a rental deal.

I believe NTCs can be written in varying ways as well, so it’s entirely possible that Noah didn’t have to submit his trade list until somewhat recently - and at that stage he could have used it as a ploy. Listed 8 of 16 possibly playoff bound teams as teams he won’t go to, immediately limiting the field down to 8 possible teams - and it may be 8 teams that Brisson knew weren’t overly interested in Hanifin’s services, effectively giving Noah complete control over the situation in that he’d have to waive his NTC for any team that is actually interested in him.

So you think a team that wants to trade for Hanifin but will only do so if he will re-sign there will just trust the Flames that Hanifin will do it? Or do you think Hanifin should sign with any team that will give the Flames the best return?
These just seems like a way for Seravelli to get more clicks.
