Well my experience in the work force suggests that personality and self motivation of the individual is the trump card. Some people have it naturally, and others need to hone it, all people are different. I've worked with companies that hired the top students from there class and it's been hit or miss. Some work out great because they have the ability to learn fast, think, and the work ethic and drive to want to improve. But the key is the work ethic and drive. We hired others who had the brains but no drive and they were a pain in the arse who brought a sense of entitlement and know it all attitudes to the job and were fired within 2 months. We've had university grads who didn't work out in the least, and convesely we've taken flyers on people who had low grades, but seemed like eager folks who worked out great. Once people are in the work force and have different motivators besides being on the deans list it's amazing what they can accomplish.
IMO I don't think you can narrow it down that easily as you'll always find variance. Odds do suggest that if you hire a university person who completely a graduate degree in 4 and a half years you probably got a solid person. But thats not 100% either, at the end of the day I will always go on personality and overall impression from meeting the person.

Overatted: The Calgary Stampede. The midway sucks. I hate all the people selling junk everywhere. The only thing I like is the rodeo and it is getting quite expensive to see that now. Also, everyone downtown seems to take the week off while the rest of the city still has to work. . . annoys me in a small way.
Underrated: Calgary Folk Music Festival. Lots of good bands and singers. Very fun and relaxing time.

My sister and her boyfriend have been together for 14 years and have brought up marriage a couple times but both agree it's nothing more than a piece of paper and are happy the way it is.
|
In my limited experience, I would have to say the ones that pester for marriage all the time are the ones to look out for. My ex was one of those, and I tried to explain to her numerous times, that it's just a piece of paper, and if you need that to validate our relationship and feel secure then there's something wrong.
Of course, I also had the strong feeling that it would never work out and she'd be one to suck me dry if we divorced so it's a good thing we didn't .
However, I also feel that if it's mutual and not just because one person is perstering the other, then marriage is most definitely NOT over-rated... But, how often do people actually get married for the right reasons?
I guess to summarize:
Over-rated: Most marriages, especially those that last less than 5 years
Under-rated: Long-lasting marriages that came about the right way and for the right reasons

Also, unrelated to my last post:
Over-rated: American sports media overhyping and beating certain topics to death (recent examples include Kobe Bryant wanting our of LA, Yankees-Red Sox, Roger Clemens and year-round NFL talk)
Under-rated (in the US anyways): Good, in-depth NHL coverage

I was going to clarify this a bit, but you beat me to it.
I find that on one side of the coin, you have the CFL detractors, who, at every opportunity will bash the league/the game. Calling it a bush league, C-Grade football, etc etc etc, and who refuse to acknowledge anything positive the league brings (for example, an exciting product, a cultural phenomenon in parts of this country, etc).
On the other side of the coin, there's the CFL homers, who can't see the negative parts of the league that take away from it....the 'be happy with what we have' crowd.
For me, I can see several flaws in the CFL, but I think, overall, it's an entertaining product on the field, for the most part, that keeps me coming back.
I dunno...I'd sum it up as "it is what it is"

For me if the girl I'm with has always wanted to get married and it gets to the point where I think she's the one I want to spend the rest of my life with then I'm all for it but if she could care less like me then I wouldnt even bother.
I know my friend should get alot of blame for accepting and I was pretty dissapointed in her because I thought she was smarter than that and would laugh in a guy's face but her ex was stupid enough to propose to her 6 months after they started dating. I dont care whether you're 18 or 28 a guy should know better and not screw with a girl's head like that. If it really is meant to be then 4-5 years down the road you'll still be together and you can think about doing it then.

I thought it was 5 core subjects?
Or is it 5, 30 level courses?

Switch Vancouver with Tim Hortons and we are in 100% agreement!
