I think it was a miss understanding and the passion came through.
Markstrom is a different type of athlete.

Flames aren't making the POs, but if they did, they could upset a team. They've had great games versus top teams.

You have to wonder what information JM had at the moment he answered that question.
Had he only read/heard the media speculation?
Had his agent spoken to Conroy at that point on what was happening? If so, would Conroy be able to divulge everything?
Seems like a lot of stuff was swirling at that point.

Well f&$k Fitz if that was the case. I'm glad Conroy held firm.

Wish you were a legit media guy and could post this on TSN or something. Italian frank needs to be taken down a peg.
The part that really sucks is that media is portraying conroy and ownership as the clown and not fitz.

I wonder if we can get New Jersey to make this trade before they play another game.
The more losses piling up the less likely they engage and give up more.

I knew it was Jersey's camp leaking everything and trying to pressure Conroy into giving in. Really pisses me off. Then you've got knuckleheads on NHL network slagging the Flames and Conroy over this garbage and it's likely as you say, Jersey being idiots.
This deal should have been done weeks ago. What a joke.

And then he fires his coach. Seems either desperate or incompetent or both.

Well they play tomorrow night, so even if a deal happened right now, its really unlikely JM would be able to play for them at that point.

Hearing TB has offered their 2026 1st, Howard, and their 3rd pick in 2024 draft for an extended Hanifin. If that is accurate that would be a decent haul if things with Florida don't get done.

I wonder if there is any lingering resentment underneath from NJD due to the Toffoli trade.
I mean, that would be stupid but they gave up the younger, more controllable and cheaper player plus a pick, then Sharangovich rebounded in Calgary and has put up similar numbers to the older more expensive Toffoli.

I think they know the ask its up to them to table it now. Connie can't do much more at this point, he may have played this beautifully.

That's my major concern now too for this trade getting done, visas can take a couple days to figure out. Sounds like Fitz is desperate though, man he handled this like a child. Proud of Conroy, we have a good one there.

After reading sec post… screw jersey. Trade Markstrom to one of the other teams in their division in summer.

Didn’t think there was any chance Tampa would trade their 2026 1st and Howard . Figured it would be one or the other. Florida you got 24 hours to beat that offer.

Oh competitive sports.. the only professional area of work where people are revered for lacking emotional regulation.
I wish I could tell people off and just have it chalked up to "he's just a competitive guy"
Not to mention doing whatever Kane and Perry did and still getting hired elsewhere no harm done.
