TBF to Lindholm - whenever the Canucks shooting heater stops this season - they start to lose.

There’s a certain coach that once said that losing starts before it actually starts and winning starts before you actually start winning.

How wild would it be for the Canucks to have had the year they are, only to trade EP for (I'm guessing) a package like Necas & Kotkaniemi and then who knows what.

Seravalli saying Hanifin’s agents are getting in the way of trades by telling various buyers that he wouldn’t sign with them.

I mean, that seems like relationship burning stuff from Hanifin’s team.
Unless of course Conroy told the agent which teams are interested and said talk to those teams at which point if Hanifin doesn’t want to sign there, then that’s just part of the process and not really a story?

He said they were “throwing a wrench into the works” so according to him it doesn’t sound great. It’s not my info, just FS-Fan960 stuff.

I suppose we can understand why he decided not to re-sign with the Flames as he's clearly set on a select few US destinations as is his right. Hopefully the Flames can strike a deal with a team that can sign him as the Lindholm to Bruins deal went down last season.

hasn't it been speculated/known for weeks that there were only a few teams he would sign extensions with (florida teams, boston etc?)
wasn't it reported weeks ago that the agent was asked to help "broker" things?
is this really a story?
we will probably get a better return if he is traded somewhere that he signs opposed to somewhere he is going to be a rental.
I see this as a 'Slow news day" type of report

It indeed wasn’t presented as breaking news, just part of his normal segment on 960. Who knows how accurate it is.

I'm more of the gambling type. I'd lock him in at 8 years at his current rate, $2.5MM. He might want to prove himself with another bridge and go for the homerun contract when he's 28 though. I can see the logic behind a minimum deal but, after just a few games, he's already getting close to showing the $2.5 is a fair number. I'd be pleasantly surprised if they got him that low.

Its a tough call. There is the personal side, and the business side. He's playing extremely well, and you hope he's in a good head space. But you can't guarantee that and he has a recent history of requiring that time away. I think a 1 year deal, not so much a prove it, but a "let's make sure you're in a good space" deal would work and given he's had 2 years at $2.5M where he played maybe a 1/4 of that contract its fair to the Flames and to Oliver who has expressed his gratitude and loyalty to the team. Play the year, take it day by day and talk long term extension a year from then. No more added pressure to what has already been a tough go of it.

Maybe that’s why this goes down to the wire; if the return isn’t there from the teams he’s willing to extend with might as well wait to see if a team steps up the price as a rental.

Would that not set us up for another issue next year if he continues to play well. I’d be comfortable with 5 years at $3M or so.
