The narrative around McDavid has always been around the points. When he was scoring goals, he was going to be making history and score the most goals in a season in 30 years. Now that he isn't scoring it is all about assists and how he could be the first player in 30 years to hit 100 assists. It has never been about wins.

My superstar wanting to win meter is calibrated by Crosby. Compare what he is willing to do to win (i.e shave points and play both ways) to McDavid. McDavid is totally interested in winning as long as he can do it the way he wants to.
He exhausts himself in the regular season doing dumb things like playing he entire PP late in games where his team is way behind or way ahead to make sure he gets all the PP points he is owed.

Yzerman and Modano are two other top players who changed their style because they wanted to win more than score points.

I will not dispute your list, however, there are enough "Old School" knuckleheads running clubs that would have 10 Grinders on their list, because they believe in that "grit and sandpaper" BS. (I am still bitter about wasted years for my club whn Pulford, Sutter, and like minded guys held sway.)
Be that as it may, the "Two Best" argument doesn't hold water when no effort on the defensive end is the norm, as it seems the Greaser pair sometimes lapse into.

He only cares about winning and that's why he is only getting assists now /s

Earlier today:
Kid 1: We want to go on a holiday.
Kid 2: Yeah, to Disneyland!
Kid 1: Yeah let's go to Disneyland!
Me: The next holiday we're taking is to your cousin's Judo tournament.
Kid 2: Yeah, in Disneyland!
Me: The tournament is in Edmonton.
Both kids: WE DON'T WANT TO GO TO EDMONTON!!!

Foegele is 7th in team points and has 13 goals, but yeah he’s their problem. Kulak is also the least of their concerns on defence because he actually plays defence.
Gotta let Holland burn more draft capital though, I’m not complaining

They can't afford what they'd have to pay to get Buchnevich, plus retention, plus have St.Louis or others agree to take on their cap dumps to make it happen.

They’re not that bright. They’ll dump Broberg, Holloway, a First & one of Ceci/Kulak/Foegle/McLeod to make the salaries work for a sideways move.

I’ve said it before when they get scorers in - there’s only one puck on the ice. They are so offence heavy in their top 2 lines that adding a Buchnevich just shoves a scorer onto a checking line and doesn’t improve the offence from the top two.

What the Oilers need is some toughness, help on defence and a goaltender to backup Skinner when his game goes south.

Two things:
1) Flames fans very much enjoyed the decade plus of Oilers losing. The limited success the Oilers have had recently has resulted in exactly zero cups.
2) When (not if) the Oilers lose Draisaitl and McDavid, I’m going to take out a billboard in Edmonton on a major road reminding them they lost both players because they left as soon as they hit free agency.

Kinda like that "rearview mirror" statement from Ron McLean a few years back.

For the record as an Oil fan I take no joy in what is likely about to be a tough period for the flames and sometime in the coming years the Oilers. I wanted these teams to both be good, to meet in the playoffs multiple times with the Oilers of course winning every one of them.
