For sure, in the off season. The rest of this season? I think that'll be it for the most part.

I could see Dumba being a summer UFA target for the flames. Calgary kid, plays with some edge. Currently making 3.9M but could see him signing something like 2 years x 3.25. Not a bad stop gap option imo

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dumba re-up with Yotes. Even before signing with the Yotes, Phoenix was reportedly his off-season home and he loves it there.

Realistically I think out of all the teams interested in Hanifin, it wont be as big of a haul as we think.
I wish we could get Lundell but doubt that happens
My best bet is targeting Boston for a 1st and Mason Lohrei/Poitras +++
Lohrei could be a great player for us for years to come

Maybe... I'd rather try to get Tanev back but Dumba seems like a decent enough Plan B. Given the bulk of D prospects Conroy has brought in I think we need to have a graduate or two from the AHL in our 5/6/7 spots (to accommodate their addition to the system).

I have a hard time believing that the Flames can secure decent UFAs without over paying them.

Blah Oesterle... if you want an experienced D-man just call up Mark Pysyk he was at least pretty good once upon a time.

Noah Hanifin and Dan Vladar to Boston for Linus Ullmark +
Jacob Markstrom to New Jersey
Picks from some of the moves made to St Louis for Jordan Kyrou
Resign Tanev in the offseason.
And that's how its done Conroy!

They’re looking at $22 mil+ in cap space next season. Overpaying a #4-5 d-man by $1 mil won’t be an issue.
And if they’re serious about not rebuilding, it wouldn’t surprise me if they went after one of the big fish like Montour or Pesce.

Don’t forget to leave room to offer sheet Bedard in 2026.

Montour would be a nice add. Has some snarl to his game too. Thats one of the reasons I looked at Dumba. Montour will probably get an overpay on longer term deal somewhere

That trade probably has to start with Knies, Minten, Cowan and their 2024 1st round pick. Maybe add a few pieces like some 3rd and 4th round picks and maybe Brad can get a deal. Getting those two players with retention would cost a chunk. Just the retention is probably worth a 1st and Minten and then you have to figure out what Marky and Mang are worth.

I am not sure if Kyrou is a Husks style player.
Huska rewards effort, you can see with his deployment of Hunt, Pospisil, his praise for Weegar and Tanev and even his recent deployment of Pachal. Players that play hard get rewarded.
Kyrou has all the talent in the world but is known to have long stretches where he displays little to no effort.
Maybe Huska could turn him around and make him buy in but I don't think the pair would gel all that well.
He would look great on the power play with Huberdeau though.

I think Cowan + 2024 1st and a couple other picks/B prospects would get that done tbh.
Cowan looks like a great prospect already

Maybe for Markstrom but Cowan and a 1st is probably very similar to what the Devils have already offered for Markstrom and Conroy turned down. Not sure why he would throw in Mangiapane and retain on him for basically free.
