Holloway is nothing more than a cheap knockoff Zary at this point.
His development trajectory is dumpster.
Oilers can have Tanev for 4 1st round picks.
That’s it.

Doesn’t Tanev have some sort of no trade clause. Why do we think Edmonton would be a team he’d go to? I’d honestly rather have him walk for free than get traded there.

The writers don’t provide a proposed offer. It talks to the likelihood that the Oilers have the pieces the Flames are looking for.
Put another way, if the Oilers are offering their first round pick and no other team is willing to do that, should the Flames take it?
I say yes. The Flames concern should be with acquiring the best assets they can, not worrying about the Edmonton Oilers.

Don't trade them people (players) we like, especially if we want the back one day. When people go to Edmonton, they change, they don't come back the way they were.
Sometimes dead is better.

Felt more like that one game was confirmation of what we've been seeing this season though.
He's had a great season where he's looked like a top pairing dman, and has looked better individually this season than he has at any previous point as a Flame.
I think people have thought that there was more upside to Hanifin's game in the past, and it feels like we've been seeing that all season. But last night really felt like the confirmation that he is that guy.

Generally im in the "take the best availble offer and don't worry about if they are in division"
But f*** the Oilers, don't do anything that might help them win in the next two seasons with the two Golden idiots.
I'd rather take a 2nd and a piece like Dellandrea, than trade him to the Oilers for their 1st.

NJ declined a major trade with Nashville.
The rejected offer was Soros,Alexandre Carrier with 50% retained for
Dawson Mercer,Seamus Casey,Akira Schmid, 1st round pick 2024, and a second round pick in 2025.

Um no, that would be the goalie. Hanifin is a pending UFA, that should have a effect on any offer.
He definitely should be traded, great player, however he wants to play in the US.
Good trade is better than, zero return

He's played over 650 games in the NHL. Well past the point where one game does more or less than the other. His play over the course of the season likely has helped his case for his next contract. But he was a top 5 pick who played from the get go. Teams have always known that this is a talented player. What he might be showing that is new is that he can block out the off ice stuff and play effectively. Unlike Lindholm who looks to be letting it affect him. So even if he's just a rental, teams might feel more comfortable in still acquiring him gor this run based on how he's handling things.

Noah’s peak is still probably 2-3 years away. I still hope we can sign him.

That’s an insane ask haha. For markstrom, signed for longer, all we want is Mercer Casey and the first!

I think everyone is saying the same thing.
He's improved a lot in the last two years, but teams that are looking to acquire him know who he is.
However if you have a management team that is split on upping the offer by X and you all watch last night's game?
I could see the loggerhead breaking.

Hm a lot to unpack here if true.
- NJ does seem to be after a rhd along with a goalie
- price for saros is high
- other teams are after Mercer
Alex carrier is similar to tanev but younger. Could be more of a long term piece for NJ.
Call me crazy but I'd do Marky and tanev for just Mercer and the 1st if we're comparing offers.

Yep. however I would guess the management team are not split and they are only focused on trading the asset.

From the trade market: Is it possible, as I was told, that the ’Canes have made it known they are willing to listen on Martin Necas, and if that is accurate from a source who has proven to be trustworthy, what am I missing?
If you are Jacob Markstrom, are you sure you’re waiving your no-move clause to come to New Jersey? Perhaps it is Carolina that will be calling.

Elliot Friedman was on a Nashville radio station a couple days ago. He said that the devils are saying no to teams that want mercer. He said that could change but he doubts it.

NJ just needs to keep it simple
Mercer for Markstrom.
If they want major retention, add a pick.
Just get it done already
