I hafta third the overrated: coffee.

It's just a drink but there is this goddamn culture built up around it.

I like orange kool-aid. If I sat at work drinking cup after cup of Kool-Aid (in a specially designed Kool-Aid-specific mug no less), people would think I'm crazy. If I slacked off for a "Kool-Aid break" every few hours or spent 20 minutes a day making the Kool-Aid and/or badmouthed the people who finished off the last pot of Kool-Aid and didn't make some more I'd be sent packing.

Nope. Not my style - never has been never will be. Call me old fashioned, there's more to it than the physical aspect. And no it has nothng to do with religion - just my own beliefs.

Over rated by casual music fans: AC/DC. They just play loud rock and roll, they aren't classic like Zeppelin, Floyd or Sabbath.

Under rated by snobby music fans: AC/DC. They play their music, they do it well. It is what it is, and should be appreciated for it.

Under rated: Calgary Transit. Everyone loves to complain, and I complain about it too. But I choose to ride the train because it really isn't THAT bad.

You make an interesting argument. I'll agree as far as saying that the "Starbucks" culture is crazy, but I'm deeply involved in the office-coffee culture myself, so I can't argue that one rationally.

You're so sweet. And I agree, wholeheartedly!

Unless you mean our brother.

Then that's just wrong - he's an Oiler's fan.

Over-rated:
Perhaps the most over-rated entity in the universe:

STAR WARS

All of them, from 4 to 3: they are all horrible. The acting is poor; the plot is poor; the characters are stale and annoying. But uncountable masses of people adore and worship everything Star Wars.
It's like a bad cult movie gone mainstream.

I agree but majority of people I know read (alot), people just don't like to admit it.

I've tried out all of them and currently have a few best friends and I consider my sisters my best friends as well.

Overrated:

-Coffee

-Too much alcohol (I'm not a huge drinker but what's more unattractive then a stinky drunk a-hole hitting on you? also just in general I'm sick of this whole 'you need to drink to have fun', if you do then you are a pretty sad person).

-iPods lets be honest I have one and I like having one but it really doesn't have anything to do with the functions it's more of a fashion statement.

-Money (it really doesn't make you happy)

-Celeberties

-50 Cent and all other rappers/hiphop artists or whatever they are called now that put down Women.

-Slang

Underrated:

-Other Mp3's that don't get the same hype as iPods (Zen Micro), they do the same things but just aren't catchy enough apparently.

-Importance of travelling to underprivileged countries, once you've done this you will have no idea how your life will change, you will look at a working toilet differently. To many people spend there time on expensive resorts and sit on a beach all day long, my idea of a vacation (although the beaches are great) is going to places like Africa and staying/travelling amongst the people and learning about them.

-Taking a break after highschool, too many people emphasise the importance of going back right away, I took a few years off and I've changed a lot since highschool, and have the right mindset to go to University and succeed, I'm more motivated NOW then I was straight out of high school.

-Meaningful jobs to many people choose money over their dreams it's sad, I want to be able to say I did what I wanted to do and I never let money stand in the way of my dreams.

-Teachers & Nurses, People really don't appreciate the things teachers/nurses do for us, and on a daily basis take them for granted. Where would be without them????

-History this seems like a stupid one but ever since I was in school in Social Studies class everyone always use to ask why do we need to learn about the past and other countries past, it's ridiculous.

-The importance of teaching about the Bible, Qur'an etc. etc. This one is tough you don't want to preach religion but in-order to (IMO) help eliminate racism we need to learn about eachother, and have a better understanding. Vast majority of the ignorant jerks (racists) I met in my life all don't understand a thing about my or others religion/beliefs and are quick to judge and make assumptions. Knowledge is very powerful.

-Learning how to read and write in proper English (I'm very, very, very guilty of this).

-Importance of a second language.
