I think it's falling on deaf ears ... but I think it would be smart for the collective mental health of this site to stop living and dying on tidbits from people 20% connected to the situation.
Conroy is on a path to move expiring assets.
Those assets will be moved.
The return will be the return.

Yeah, he got a raw deal because of how the selection and subsequent media stuff played out.

I still think he brings back a 1st plus a B+/C prospect as a rental. The prospect will get better as more teams are bidding on him.

To me that's all contract posturing.
Stamkos wants to be back, the team knows he wants to be back, but they want him to take a discount so maybe they could fit a piece like Hanifin in.
But even then that will be tough because even if Stamkos takes $6M it's not going to open up enough room for a big ticket addition.

From the Marek show this afternoon (Friedman)
Nothing really new on Hanifin or Tanev.
Conroy holding his ground on the ask for Tanev.
Letting the market build for Hanifin.
So there Seravalli?

I don't really see anything happening till early March at this point, and while that seems boring, I prefer Conroy hold out for the best value and it will set up for a really fun few days.

Fair enough. I do think that the Flames scouring has improved immensely since 2013 though.

How many of you believe Markstrom will be gone before trade deadline?

Friedman reports the news. I 100% believe Seravalli has connections based on some of the stuff he's broken, but he doesn't just report the news, his stuff has a slant to it.

Calgary is in no hurry to trade Markstrom. They have 2 more years to look for the best return.

I'm pretty bullish on Markstrom being moved this week alone. I'm calling 80/20 on a trade this week, going up to 90/10 by the trade deadline.

You think a 36 year old Markstrom will return the best value?

I'm not going to name names, but I personally know a goalie who NJD is after but they're on his no trade list. Could help the Flames send Markstrom there. Apparently, CGY is interested in this same goalie.

Powerplay Quarterback

NJ put Vanecek on IR retoactive to Feb.10th, so that could be the hold up on the possible Markstrom to NJ trade.

The Flames don't really gain anything by holding on to him unless they think are competing next year.
He will either be playing well enough to get them a worse pick or he reverts back to playing poorly and they miss their chance at a good return.
Life is much simpler for the Flames if they get a top ten pick next year as well.

The most confusing part about this is that Flames want to buy a goalie lol

I'm guessing you mean IR, not waivers?
