Aside from Sec’s Gifs there was quite a lot of descriptive posts from him as well, pair that up with Dissentowner, Bax and the ultimate CP insider Rasta and something definitely is cooking. Seemed to be boiling last night but the back to a simmer currently.

It's mostly reading between the lines. Supposedly, Conroy gave Hanifin the all-star break to consider re-signing. He hasn't re-signed, and insiders were saying that Conroy knows where Hanifin's mind is at.

Reading between the lines of all the rumors it sounds like the package for Markstrom has been settled, but now maybe they are trying to see if Hanifin can get worked in as well. Neither team plays today, so tons of time to see if they can't make this trade even bigger. If adding Hanifin fails, revert back to the already finalized deal for just Markstrom and make the trade call. That's what I'm hoping is happening.

Wonder if the Markstrom trade takes a week or so if it involves Vanecek even if it is agreed - isn't it the case that injured players can't be traded?

I've been checked out for a week waiting on this

my friend's dad who is close to one of the guys in management said that he told them the plan was to play Markstrom yesterday until NJ become pretty serious in talks with them late Wednesday night.

He said that Lindholm also knew the Sunday that he was likely heading to Vancouver before it was official Wednesday.

So I suspect it seems likely it is pretty much a done deal, but working out small details.


He told me earlier in the week that they looked at Holtz, Mercer, Vanacek and Siegenthaler as pieces that would potentially head back to Calgary. Not sure if that changed, but id expect that 2 or 3 of those names come back depending how big this deal gets.

No concern as far as not enough bodies to me. If we were making a playoff run, sure they should get some more guys in, but that's not an issue right now.

If both Tanev and Hanifin are gone, it’s throw-in-the-towel time. The Flames won’t be winning many games with the remaining D-corps, but that’s not a bad thing.

The "6 teams reported" were by Seravalli, and he confirmed it was his opinion, not based upon facts.
