Wranglers still have:
Kuznetsov
Solovyov
Pysyk
Poolman
Lyle
Aspirot (AHL)
Gourley (AHL)

Plus Poirier whenever he's back

Plus they can sign fill ins to AHL deals if they need to.

Plus they may get D-men back in any of the trades they make.

No concern as far as not enough bodies to me. If we were making a playoff run, sure they should get some more guys in, but that's not an issue right now.
That frightens me. But I suppose you're right.

Is Gilbert even ready to go?

Does it matter?

If we're trading everyone away, I won't be cheering to lose, but if we have to roster a less than ideal lineup and that results in losses and improves our draft position...

One good thing about that D depth is players like Brzustewicz are more likely to sign here.

I think with the flames rebuilding having open spots young players can challenge for and get a chance to show what they are at the NHL level is a huge positive rather than a negative as well. The next couple years are about finding the next core of the team and the guys who can produce and carry the team at the NHL level for the next 7 or 8 years.

Also if Hanifin goes I feel like it's very likely a young close to NHL ready D prospect is coming back for that second pairing.

Not necessarily. Maybe we get a couple young D back. Maybe even an old name like Juuso Valimaki is
part of the return.

Kylington - Weegar
Valimaki - Andersson

that'd be a fun top 4.

You want to wreck him long term? Let him continue to get blown out.

Just my opinion, but seen it way too many times over the course of many years.

I wouldnt be surprised if he is returned to the Wranglers today depending on Vladars health.
From what I've seen this year, NHL level shooters can exploit his lack of size if they have any time or space.

He's still young, but he's been really bad in the NHL this year, and you can't correct his size with coaching.

I'd still trade Markstrom if there's a good deal out there, but I'm still considering drafting more goaltenders every year too.

You have a strange definition of fun… it would definitely improve our draft position.

Does that matter?... I mean Mark Pysyk has 500+ NHL games under his belt so I'm going to assume that he isn't much of a downgrade from Gilbert as far as depth bottom pairing d-men to play out the last quarter of the season go.

That's easy to say but that's still a monumental change that the Flames haven't undertaken in the cap era. I think even in 2013 they didn't tear the D down to the studs like that. They still had veteran stop gaps in those spots. It's still jarring to see on paper.

Maybe it's knowing this team so well, that it's hard to believe the tear down of this magnitude is really going to happen until we see it. But seeing as they haven't got Hanifin inked, it's all but a formality at this point.

Then draft his brother and the two Iginlas. Two pair is a good hand and it is highly unlikely the Flames would be able to draw the Hughes' three of a kind.

Wolf already assigned back to the Wranglers. Maybe things aren't as imminent as we'd hoped.

If a goalie comes the other way, sending Wolf down won't mean anything.

Someone has already said Wolf demotion was automatic when Vladar was reactivated because it was an emergency recall.

Add in the team is in Calgary and only going to Abbotsford for a Sunday game and it means zilch.

They could have sent one of their waiver exempt forwards down to the AHL and kept Wolf up when Vladar was activated. Emergency recalls only really mean anything after the trade deadline or if the team's out of cap space and they're super-duper (cap exempt) emergency recalls.

I was wondering when Vegas would pop up. Champs can sacrifice futures (prospects or picks) when their window is so wide open now

Also, things are lining up for Vegas/ENG in the first round. Lets stack the Knights to the hilt

Running practice is a bit easier with 2 goalies instead of 3.

Sorry, I'm not following all that close, has it been determined that Hanifin won't re-sign?
