The conspiracy-theorist in me + TO-centric nature of the league leads me to think it will be 5 because of the schedule. Yep. The next 5 games are against Blues (2x) Philly, Ducks, & Yotes. The 3 after are Vegas (2x) and the Avs. Slap him with the 5, which looks like a punishment, and he gets to come back for the 3 toughest games in a row left on their sked.

Put this side by side with Dennis Wideman.. what's the difference? I'd say that this is even more malicious intent.

When he hit the official? No way. I don't care what he tried to say after, he lost his cool on a non call and intentionally flattened that ref. I have seen that clip a million times and can't see it any other way.

Seemed so similar to Perron earlier in the year, that I assume he'll get the same. If he gets less than 6, he's getting some Toronto market bias, IMO. If he gets more than 6... I won't understand that either (again, being so similar to what Perron just did about 6 weeks back).

How long does it take for the NHL to make those videos. Apparently the hearing ended 2 hours ago.

Yeah, I agree. So the only difference is one guy was a ref and the other a player. Somehow refs are more important than players.

I'm not sure if you are being intentionally obtuse, but in no sport is it acceptable to hit a ref in any way shape or form.
I'm confused by your take.

Malicious intent. This kind of thing needs to stop. There is no excuse for intentionally hitting someone in the face with a cross check. There’s nothing that justifies Reilly’s actions in my mind.

Ummm....yes.
If you go it give a ref a shove in the chest glove on, that's a match penalty every day, and likely a suspension of at least one game. Shove sn opposing player, it's not always a 2 minute minor.
Major difference.
Are you do soft that you think shoving a guy after the whistle should now be criminal assault too?

Oh I have no doubt his bell was rattled which impaired his ability to control himself. Regardless, you can't just cross check an official from behind.
