It's addition by subtraction as our 1st gets way better without him.
I'd love to retain on markstrom and take a capdump to get that 1st.

Also said they may be interested if they could find a centre that's 24 or younger.

While spreading picks over a couple of years may slow down the rebuild, personally I'd rather some of those 1st rounders be in 2025. It sounds like this year will be more defensive heavy, while next year will be more forward heavy...and we're going to need both. Assuming (hoping?) that some of these picks will be hits, it may also give there Flames a bit more cap flexibility down the line so they don't have to resign everyone at the same time.

Feels like he is going to try and get a Zegras/Grieg/Pinto

Conroy could be setting this team up for a dynasty if he makes the right moves and drafts well.[/QUOTE]
I'd reign in those horses quite a bit.
Calgary really doesn't have 1 elite player that will be part of a Stanley Cup core.
Dynasties are build on some elite players, which generally come from very high draft picks.

Really ties into what Sec214 has been saying about the Flames wanting Lundell.
That player might be connys white whale.

lol. Part of selling off the players will be getting a higher pick. You can let someone daydream for 5 minutes.

With Monahan returning a 1st +, you’d think Tanev would return same, if not more.

Pump the brakes here. This is not the 2023 draft coming up, this is a weak draft with half a dozen players that might be top six. The depth in this draft is quite poor comparatively so the idea of making out like bandits this draft should be tempered.

Conroy, in response to being asked by the guys, (paraphrase) "something I've learned is that once you make an early trade, everyone (other teams) seems to think "oh it's more urgent""
sounds like business is picking up (which perhaps aligns with what Steinberg said about Tanev)

I found it very telling that Craig was specific in wanting a 24 or younger center with high upside. I don't think the Flames are even remotely close to being done.
This is so refreshing, I got the feels good man going on here.

Tanev (extended) for Norris.
Norris is a 24 year old C, exactly what Connie wants age wise lol
From my Sens buddy: I think if tanev can sign a 4x5.5M for example, that trade could work.
Norris at $7.95 is a bit rich for ottawa with all their guys signed. Making that swap mat also mean they can afford to keep chychrun if they can save $2.5M.
If healthy, running Stützle, pinto, Greig as the three centres isn’t horrible, esp if they can bring in a vet to play a middle six centre role in the off-season.

Same could be said for other drafts following a great draft. The 03, 04 and 05 drafts were stacked or had high end superstars at the top. 06. 07. 08 and 09 weren't as exciting.
Chicago, LA and Tampa got some guys in those drafts. Dynasty teams?

Generally this is thought to be an above average depth, with strength at the top, though not awesome depth.
But above average overall.
Not a poor one.

I could see a Mangiapane + Tanev for Norris + type deal going down honestly.

How many 1sts are we getting with that? Or are they retaining 50% on the whole term?
