I don’t really like the deal. The cap dump on Kuzmenko should have been worth half that price on its own. But we’ll see.

The part I like is no retention. In the next few weeks someone will need a broker for retention. The cap space might be worth a bit.

This year his shooting percentage has gone back to normal and he has been a drag on the Canucks cap. His production is very disappointing considering he's still been on the 1st PP all season.

I feel like the Flames should have gotten a 1st + for Lindholm and a 1st for taking Kuzmenko. I see him as a worse player than Monahan who the Flames traded a 1st to dump.

Also, if the Flames are now in the business of helping their Canadian rivals, I wish they would have sent Lindholm to the Oilers instead.
Lindy might have produce for us this season, but we still love him. Why would be trade him to Deadmonton?

By the same token, Lindholm isn't moving any time soon either, based on those same comments.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be competitive, and trying to win, while also knowing that you need to make changes. There are still players who are here - and those players should ALWAYS be trying to win.

He isn't saying they are going to go out and get players at the deadline, he is just saying that the guys that are here believe in themselves and think they can make the playoffs. Why would you ever want anything different from the palyers on your team?

Pronman is dumb.
Pronman is an absolute turd. It amazes me he has the audience and coverage he does built on years of other people's work.

I know others have said the previous trades did that, or suggested that strategy too, but I dunno, to me- this one really seals it.

It’ll be exciting to see what they get for the rest of the UFAs and (IMO) as well, Markstrom should also be dealt.
Good chance Markstrom lands you that Iggy Jr. pick.

I think they should do it.

Should also swing for a conditional 2nd that becomes a 1st for Tanev like they did with Russell who was a comparable shot-blocking 2nd pairing guy. Could see Dallas being the team again too.

One wonders too if Kuz talked with Zadorov about Calgary as a a team and as a city. Obviously Zadorov has had good things to say about the city.

Most players probably do chat amongst themselves but the Russians seems to stick together as well. Even ones *gasp* that may not have some of the same opinions on things.

Not everyone. There were lots of people posting trades where bluechip prospects or young performing roster players were being moved in trade. So those expectations were not met in any way. We didn't see a Wallinder or Lekkerimaki dealt our way.

Argue away. He was drafted in the third round for a reason. He's a smallish defenseman who is pass first. Not a great shot, but an incredible passer. A player that not many on the board had heard of before the trade and a guy that didn't even make the Canucks top 15 prospects in their prospect review by The Hockey Writers for a weak Vancouver prospect pool. Still lots to prove for this kid, even with posting gaudy numbers in the OHL. Has a particular skillset the team needs but has a long path to the NHL. Still see him as a "B" level prospect, even with the scoring exploits, and that's okay. "B" level prospects can surprise and turn into core players if things go right.
Just read a prospect ranking from the start of January (Hockey News) that had him 3rd on their prospect pool behind only Willander and Lekkerimaki. Considering those two are A+ level prospects, I think that puts him in good company.

What does this mean? He does his own scouting. How is he leveraging other people's work? Do you read his stuff?

Please keep it up. We all come here to read your obsessive passive aggressive posting about yourself and your position. I mean that's why anyone would peruse a hockey forum.

I think Rasmus really benefited from being paired with Gio. I think it really helps prospects develop when they get to play with and learn from stars. That's why a part of me wants Gio back as a 6th/7th D next year, so he can help bring along the next young D.

A 1st round pick, two solid defensemen prospects, and a 4th that can become a 3rd this year.

Plus a roster player cap dump one year removed from a 39 goal season.

Who can still be traded for more assets.

That’s a great return.
