Absolutely won that deal by a country mile! Hunter brzustecewicz is an absolute stud. Dude can dangle and has much higher offensive upside than hanifin. Wow Conroy, wow. Throw in a 1st and a conditional 4th and kuzmenko, just wow. That’s a heck of a haul.

I'm not mad.

Given pending UFA Elias Lindholm was on pace for 15 goals, it seems like a pretty good haul for rookie Flames GM Craig Conroy:
- Kuzmenko, 27, scored 39 goals last season
- Brzustewicz, 19, D is lighting up the OHL
- Jurmo, 21, Finn is 6-foot-5 D
- 1st round pick
- 4th round pick

Lindholm is likely the top forward available and he will make Vancouver better. They've pushed open a window they didn't think they would have, and got a very responsible center and a guy who can drive a top line if he has top talent with him.
A gamble but Rutherford is playing with house money and they just gave him an extension, so even if this flops, Canucks crash and burn and Lindy leaves for free, Rutherford is safe.

Crucial question: Kuzmenko and Kuznetsov are on the team, who is Kuzy?

That's good work by Conroy.

50 games ago Canucks fans would have questioned the thought of Kuzmenko for Lindholm 1 for 1.

Now he got a 1st, a top prospect, another prospect and a conditional 4th on top of that.

Love that Conroy is looking bigger picture and not basing value on the most recent random e season sample. Did it with Sharangovich and now Kuzmenko potentially.

Good trade for both teams. It makes the Canucks much better as they have a bonafide second line now with improved depth. The draft pick is nice but should be 32nd overall. The other prospects are a few years away and when you have a chance to win now I think it is important to shoot their shot.

Condition on the 4th apparently is if Bzur doesn't sign or something.

No salary retention?

Boy. That opens up a slew of opportunities

Conditions on the 4th might be because the Canucks have 2 picks in the 4th (theirs and NJ).

No extension yet:

@reporterchris
Elias Lindholm is still in transit from his bye week vacation to the NHL's all-star weekend in Toronto, so there's no extension worked out with #Canucks for the pending UFA.

I can't even think about what more could have been added if Tanev was also in there at 50%...

Only if we trade it to the Cup champs to move down and pick up a second.

That's quite the haul for sure...pumped!

Patience from Conroy seems to have paid off. Way to go Conny!

Now please repeat for Hanifin, Tanev, and Markstrom if he'll waive to go to a contender.

From Van’s perspective they have to be thinking they made out like bandits here. Got rid of a player they didn’t want for this year and next, two prospects that are not core guys, and a late 1st for by far the best rental centre available

This trade is only any good if Brzustewicz is any good imo. If he sucks or busts this is essentially the Iginla/Bouwmeester trades again. Hopefully the scouts do better this time.
I'm gonna guess that the Flames get the 4th if Lindholm re-signs in VAN. It doesn't seem as though the Flames retained any salary. Kuzmenko(5.5) was making more money than Lindholm(4.85)

Impressive haul, I can see why Conny didn't wait until the deadline. Now I'm pumped to see what our other trade candidates will bring.
